Throughout Greg’s 26-year career at C-P Flexible Pack- aging, he was eager to stand at the edge of flexography’s capabilities, look past its boundaries and see what else could be possible. With his willingness to experiment and trial new technologies, he found a kindred spirit in now-fel- low Hall of Famer Mark Mazur, who reflected on Greg as “my mentor” throughout their decades of friendship. “I worked for DuPont and they paid my salary, but I felt like something bigger than being a plate supplier thanks to Greg,” said Mazur. “The job—and I think any job—is so much more meaningful when you have someone like him.” FTA Recognizes Three Recipients For Technical Innovation FTA has announced three recipients of a 2020 FTA Tech- nical Innovation Award, which recognizes disruptive and innovative technologies working to affect change in the package printing industry. The award-winning technologies were announced during the FTA Awards Presentation on April 22. The com- panies recognized are: • HYBRID Software, one of two winners in the Prepress - Graphics category, for its CLOUDFLOW Patchplanner. The web-based production tool minimizes material use and saves operators’ time by consolidating and opti- mizing design file layout
• Miraclon Corp, one of two winners in the Prepress - Graphics category, for its Kodak Flexcel NX Ultra Solu- tion featuring Ultra Clean Technology. The plate making system is both solvent- and VOC-free, and can deliver a press-ready plate in less than one hour and 32 plates across an eight-hour shift • Paper Converting Machine Co (PCMC), winner of the Prepress - Pressroom category, for its Meridian Elite. The cleaning system uses laser ablation to remove inks, coatings, varnishes and residue from anilox and application rolls, requiring no chemicals.
FTA Awards Two Companies For Sustainability Excellence
FTA has announced the results of the 2020 FTA Sustain- ability Excellence Award Competition. Each of the compe- tition’s two categories had a single winner, as well as one honorable mention. The award-winning sustainability ini- tiatives were announced during the FTA Awards Presenta- tion on April 22. The companies recognized are: • Hub Labels, winning the Sustainability Programs cat- egory, for its landfill-free initiative, and for completely eliminating landfill waste since October 2019. • Labelcraft Products Ltd, winning the Innovations in Sus- tainability category, for its Recyclable Enviroliner made with 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
