T his year marks the 20 th anniversary of AnglicareSA's provision of foster care services. We are South Australia's largest provider of foster care placement and support services, working with nearly 400 carers who look after around 500 children and young people across the State. There are many reasons a child or young person may be unable to live with their birth family, whether it's for a short period of time or for most of their childhood. Our foster carers make a positive difference to children's lives by providing a family environment in which they can grow and thrive. Whatever the reason, living in a home environment with a family who can give a child or young person security, consistency and nurturing care is best, both for the child and the community as a whole.
F oster and Kinship Care Week is an opportunity to recognise and acknowledge the incredible effort and impact our Foster and Kinship Care families make, in providing vulnerable children in South Australia with a safe and loving family home. This year’s Foster and Kinship Care Week was a wonderful celebration and opportunity for connection with our foster care families. AnglicareSA hosted close to 300 Foster and Kinship Care families at the Capri Cinema for two entertaining movie nights. Icecream, popcorn and face painting added to the celebration and fun for the families that attended. During the year, our pamper days held in the north and south of Adelaide also attracted more than 100 foster carers. With the theme ‘Recharge and Revitalise’, carers were treated to pedicures, manicures and sports massage, with some guests enjoying their first experience of yoga and meditation. All this was topped off with a delicious high tea as carers relaxed and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up. FOSTER ANDKINSHIPCARE CELEBRATIONS
