AMAZINGANGLICARERS AWARDED

I n August we recognised and celebrated the outstanding work of our employees, volunteers and foster carers before an audience of special guests at our annual AnglicareSA Awards ceremony at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre. The awards recognise and reward excellence in service, achievement and innovation by employees, teams, programs, volunteers, volunteer teams and foster carers over the past 12 months. We are extremely proud of the great work that our Anglicarers do each and every day, and the awards are an opportunity to highlight and recognise a few exceptional individuals and teams.

This year we had more than 60 very deserving nominations from across the organisation, making judging the awards a very difficult task for the Executive judging panel. As always the stories about the winners were inspiring and described the great work AnglicareSA does in the community. Congratulations to all of our award recipients and finalists.

NATIONAL AWARD FOR ANNA O ur heartiest congratulations and thanks go to Anna Lattas, winner of the Anglicare Australia Volunteer of the Year Award. Anna Lattas has been volunteering at the Daphne Street Child Care Centre in Prospect for more than 35 years. She has been there so long that she has seen past children grow up and return with children of their own. “That is a really special feeling,” Anna said. “It’s just wonderful.” Assistant Manager Donna Turner said Anna was a big asset to the team. “She puts out beds in the toddler room, helps out with the laundry and engages with the babies in the baby room,” Ms Turner says. “Anna is part of the furniture here.” Anna's commitment to Daphne Street is unwavering. At one time she continued to volunteer even though she had to catch three buses to get to work in the morning. Daphne Street Child Care Centre provides day care with quality education programs for around 70 children per day.
