AnglicareSA partnered with OTR in September to raise funds to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. The week-long campaign encouraged South Australians to “take a coffee break” at OTR to raise much needed funds for our emergency assistance homelessness services. OTR donated $1 to AnglicareSA for every hot beverage purchase made via the OTR App. We are proud to announce that Coffee Break raised $37,814. A huge thank you to OTR and to everyone who bought a cup of coffee via the OTR App during this period. The money raised will be well used. It will provide meals, clothing, vital medication and blankets in winter to those in need in SA. AnglicareSA CEO Peter Sandeman said that this money will make a big difference. “Homelessness is a major driver of the work that AnglicareSA does across its services and programs,” said Peter. “It’s a growing problem in Adelaide where we have seen a 44 percent increase in the number of people sleeping rough in the past year alone.” A VALUABLE COFFEE BREAK
OTR Chief Operating Officer Peter Piliouras said the Coffee Break initiative gave everyone the opportunity to support the vital work of AnglicareSA. “The homelessness services provided by AnglicareSA are relied on by thousands of South Australians,” said Mr Piliouras. “It is important to OTR that we support our community and encourage others to do the same.”
ANGEL DAY
• Build A Bike – at their Staff Development Day Pedare staff built 20 bikes which were donated to children in need across our CALD community, Emergency Assistance, Foster Care and Loss and Grief programs. We are excited about working with Pulteney Grammar School, our Angel Day school for 2018.
Our Anglican schools provide invaluable support to AnglicareSA, especially our Emergency Assistance services across Adelaide, with many schools donating food or clothing items for those in need. Each year one primary school is selected to be an ambassador for AnglicareSA services through our 'Angel Day' program. The main role of the AnglicareSA Angel school is to assist us in our much-needed fundraising efforts. Our Angel Day school for 2017 was Pedare Christian College. During the course of the year, Pedare went above and beyond in their Angel Day efforts with student-led activities including: • A Multimedia Interactive Artwork Exhibition by talented student and up-and-coming artist Shea Stringer, with all funds raised supporting AnglicareSA's Elizabeth Mission • SCEANIE Day (wearing scarves and beanies) where students collected funds to purchase winter warmers • City to Bay Fun Run - the students trained throughout the year to participate in the 12km event, helping to raise funds for Star Bear
