Welcome A warm welcome to this edition of Totally Telford, where we proudly showcase just a few of the many things we do that provide everyone with a fair chance to get involved, thrive, and feel valued in our borough. Everywhere you turn, you’ll find initiatives that take your experiences, turn them into reality, ensuring that people’s voices are heard. We are committed to delivering council services that offer the value for money expected in every aspect of life. The Balloon Fiesta, Spring Into St George’s, and Telford Carnival are just a few of the flagship free events that bring people together, fostering community spirit without cost to attend. To promote wellness, we offer free swimming for under 25s, have 23 Local Nature Reserves for those seeking solace in outdoors, free activities during school holidays for young people, and affordable leisure centres equipped with top-of the-range equipment for all abilities. We fight for the preservation of our hospital’s emergency services and strive to enhance access to doctors’ surgeries. Supported by our dedicated army of almost 100 health champions, we aim to meet the health and social care needs of our entire community, both now and in the future, spanning adults, children, and families.
Surrounding all these endeavours is a commitment to growth and investment in our high streets, grants for boosting businesses and flagship regeneration projects that are reshaping the borough, while generating jobs and encouraging economic growth. From council buses offering £2 single journeys to discounted waste collection and extensive recycling services, we’ve stretched every financial muscle to help your money go further. Despite continued pressures on council funding, we maintain the lowest council tax rate in the Midlands. However, we acknowledge that there is always more to be done, and are steadfast in our commitment to removing barriers and ensuring that the diverse mix of people we are proud to represent, remains at the heart of all services delivered by Telford & Wrekin Council.
