HEADTEACHER'S MESSAGE

Dear Parents/Carers,

As the days grow shorter and the seasons begin to change, October reminds us of the mystery of time and God’s providence. Just as the leaves fall in preparation for winter, we are called to let go of sin, pride, and attachments that keep us from Christ. It was an absolute pleasure to welcome many of our families to the Year 11 and 13 ‘Strive for Success’ event last week. It is so important that parents are aware of the academic expectations at this crucial juncture of the GCSE and A-Level journey. When there is consistent positive collaboration between the college and families, positive results will flow. Thank you to all our staff who supported this wonderful event. This week, all our Form Tutors have been meeting parents in our ‘meet the tutor’ virtual event – a great opportunity to talk with the member of staff who is the first port of call for any pastoral queries. As we set the standard for another successful year, discussions focused on the basic expectations of the college, and the necessity to study independently for strong academic outcomes. To support this, our renewed homework policy and study provision will be launched by the October half-term. Further details to follow. On Thursday 2nd October, we have our annual open evening for Year 7 and 12 admissions in September 2026. The event will showcase the brilliance and warmth of our college to prospective families. The evening begins from 4.30pm and ends at 7.30pm. Further details are on our website. Several students will be involved in representing the college on the night as tour guides or in departments. Subsequently, we will close to students at 12.45pm on Thursday 2nd October, and re-open at 9.00am for a 9.25am start on Friday 3rd October. Everlasting God, may truth dawn on us with its light, bringing joy no matter what happens to us. Grant that we may not be blinded by the surrounding darkness. Shed a clear light on the new life that is coming. Keep us aware of the wonders that increasingly surround us, until all the pain on earth is finally overcome and we glorify your love and your great goodness. Amen.

God bless, Mr G C Mantillas
