Year 10 English Students Inspired at The #Merky Books and HSBC Event
This week, a group of our top Year 10 English students had the opportunity to attend an inspiring trip to Brixton House, hosted by #Merky Books and HSBC.
The event, born from Stormzy’s vision to champion and publish Black writers, brought together a wide range of voices to inspire the next generation. Students took part in sessions on careers, finance, business, motivation and advice, with engaging presentations from advertising and PR companies, financial advisers, media and marketing professionals, and careers specialists offering insight into alternative routes beyond school. Our students also enjoyed hearing from motivational speakers, who encouraged them to dream big and embrace new opportunities. A highlight of the day included conversations with Helen Hayes, MP for Dulwich and West Norwood, who took time to speak with the group. Fuelled by delicious vegan patties, the boys embraced the challenge of stepping outside their comfort zones and did so with confidence, maturity and pride in representing the College.
