Always Learning Getting to Know Kyzmyck Byerly
When I was an undergraduate at George Washington University, I didn’t have my sights set on going into law. If you had asked me if I wanted to go to law school, I would have said no. At George Washington, I majored in international affairs, and I intended to pursue my master’s degree in the same field. Like many college students, I changed my mind. After I got my undergraduate degree, I decided to go to law school. I saw an opportunity to get a J.D. degree while still pursuing my interest in international affairs. But as I worked toward my law degree, I realized how much I loved learning about law. It was then, while I was in the middle of law school, that I realized I wanted a career in law. I found law fascinating. It was so complex, and even to this day, there are still a great many new things to learn. It’s an ongoing process. After I earned my law degree, I was ready to put it to work. I passed the Texas bar exam and joined the team at Herrman and Herrman. That was 14 years ago! In that time, I’ve primarily focused on practicing personal injury law. More recently, I’ve explored some facets of maritime law. Though maritime law is still far away from being a specialty, learning about the nuances of the law has been an eye-opening experience. That’s one of the many reasons why I love the career path I chose back in law school. So many of the cases I’ve worked on have been similarly intriguing. I never get tired of working with such a diverse set of clients.
At the same time, there is always a new challenge around every corner, and though most of the cases I work on are within the scope of personal injury, the many aspects of the law keep me on my toes. Every situation is different, and the ways in which laws are interpreted and applied can also vary.
Each case may come with its unique set of challenges, but they also come with their rewards. When I deliver results for a client or win a difficult case — particularly after convincing a judge or jury that they are making the right decision — that brings me a great sense of pride. Many clients are grateful for the help and expertise I am able to provide. When they get the results they need or deserve — results that often help them get their lives back on track — these are moments when I know that working in law was the right choice. The work can, at times, be stressful. One of the ways I unwind is to head to the gym. I’m something of a gym nut. I love exercising and staying active. I also love to unwind with a good book, spend time with friends, or go out to a movie, though I haven’t seen too many this summer. It’s been a busy few months, with plenty of casework and clients in need of a legal shoulder.

Storage Containers With millions of college students getting ready to head off to school, many retailers are taking advantage of the fact that these kids need a place to store all of their stuff. You, too, can take advantage of these sales to stock up on storage bins and
boxes for just about any purpose, from food to
clothing storage. In addition to storage
containers, you’ll find many home organization products on sale. Vehicles According to USAA, August is a great time to start shopping for a new vehicle. New- year model cars and trucks are trickling
onto lots around the country, and dealerships are slightly more motivated to get rid of last year’s stock. Use this time to do research and browse dealer selection. For even more potential savings, USAA suggests visiting the dealership on a Monday or Tuesday and later in the day.

The Seventh Fatal Mistake The Final Mistake That Can Ruin Your Injury Case
When you are involved in an accident, be careful about what you say and do on social media. From Facebook to Twitter to Instagram, anything you post can be fatal to your case. This is the seventh fatal mistake people make after filing a claim. Many people these days use at least one form of social media. They are constantly documenting their lives with posts, pictures, and videos. The problem is, when you submit a personal injury claim, there is a good chance an insurance adjuster will find your social media profiles and monitor you. If the insurance company can’t do it themselves, they may hire an investigator to follow you and document your activity. If you “check in” somewhere, you effectively tell the investigator where you are. They can find a way to see what you post on social media and track it, even if your settings are private. As long as you are consistent with what you tell medical providers, lawyers, and the adjuster, there isn’t an issue. The problem arises when you are caught doing something that a seemingly injured person would or should not be doing.
This can include engaging in sporting activities, dancing, mowing the yard, taking out the trash, doing auto repairs in your driveway, and so on. If you tell your doctor you are too sore to move, but post pictures playing volleyball on the beach, this will destroy your case.
While this might seem like an extreme example, you need to be aware
that at even the slightest hint that you are misrepresenting your situation, the insurance company will deny or minimize your claim. They make money when you agree to a bare minimum claim. This is the adjuster’s job, and many of them do it well. Don’t make it easy for them.
Ritz Cracker Ice Cream Sandwiches
INGREDIENTS

4 ounces dark chocolate pieces, melted 24 Ritz (or generic butter round) crackers

1 pint of your favorite ice cream
*
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Melt chocolate pieces in a double boiler or in the microwave. Stir until smooth and drippy. 2. Arrange crackers, bottom side up, on a cookie sheet. Use fork to drizzle melted chocolate over crackers, then place them in freezer to cool quickly. 3. Remove crackers from freezer and place small ice cream scoop in the center of 12 crackers. Press remaining crackers, chocolate side down, onto the ice cream scoop. 4. Freeze at least 4 hours before serving. Wrap individual sandwiches in plastic wrap to store in freezer for up to 7 days — but they’ll never last that long.

A ‘New’ Pyramid Unearthed Excavators Continue to Make Discoveries in Egypt
Even after thousands of years, excavation teams are still making incredible discoveries in Egypt. Most recently, a team 25 miles south of Cairo has discovered the remains of a pyramid that dates back to the 13th dynasty, about 3,700 years ago. Ten lines of hieroglyphics in excellent condition were among the findings. The “new” pyramid, which is still being excavated, is located north of King Sneferu’s Bent Pyramid in the Dahshur royal necropolis, and it’s not as old as other pyramids in the area. Sneferu’s son and successor, King Khufu, built the famous pyramids at Giza. While the pyramid-shaped upper section is gone, the substructure still remains. Adel Okasha, head of the Dahshur necropolis, said that the newly discovered remains could belong to the Bent Pyramid, which is believed to have been ancient Egypt’s first attempt to build a smooth- sided pyramid.
The general manager of the EgyptianMinistry for Antiquities, Essmat Sonay, celebrated the discovery by posting photos to social media. Though experts are not sure who the pyramid officially belonged to — King Ameny Qemau’s name was mentioned in the discovered hieroglyphics, though his pyramid was
discovered in 1957 — the Ministry for Antiquities plans to continue excavations and hopes to find more evidence.
