Avonmore 4H dairy calf rally, a bike tour on the trails of the Larose Forest with a picnic and an historical briefing, Calypso, a visit of some of the local farms (Dignard Rabbittry, Luchtenberg’s goat farm, Laviolette Egg farm, St-Albert Cheese Factory and Rosenhill Dairy Farm). Along with the collaboration of the South
/BUJPOBOEUIF):PVUI4FSWJDF-FBEFST (Hands to Larger Service program), the group’s community day in the region was TQFOUBUUIF8&#VSUPO1BSLJO3VTTFMM Participants refurbished and built new ar- rangements near the signs, did a cleanup of the park and put some gravel in designated areas of the path.
This year, Russell County’s application for a Club to Club exchange was se- lected and 10 4H’ers, ages 12 to 17, were matched with Drumheller District, Alberta. The exchange’s purpose was to enable 4H members to travel outside their province and discover the historical, geographical and cultural diversity of our country, as well as get a hands-on opportunity to do some volunteer community work through the HLS program.
The Russell group welcomed their Alberta twins in the region in the second half of July. Highlights of the experience included Parliament Hill, changing of the guard, Rideau )BMM #ZXBSE.BSLFU 8BS.FNPSJBM -BEZ%JWF guided bus-boat experience, Ottawa Haunted walk, Science and Tech museum, a day at

Pour souligner le 10 e anniversaire du Groupe de services communautaires Kawabunga, celui-ci s’est associé avec différents partenaires de la région pour offrir des bourses permettant à des jeunes de participer à leurs camps d’été. « Il y a toujours des familles qui sont moins nanties et qui veulent participer à nos camps. On a essayé de trouver des moyens pour les aider », a expliqué René Laflèche, président du conseil d’administra- tion du Groupe de services communautaires Kawabunga. Ainsi, la Banque Scotia de Casselman a remis près de 5000 $ au Groupe de services communautaires Kawabunga. Cela a permis à 30 enfants de la région de participer aux camps d’été offert par le groupe cette année. Le Comptoir populaire Deguire a de son

Le groupe de services communautaires Kawabunga est un organisme à but non lucratif établi dans la région depuis 2008. Au cours des dernières années, le groupe a étendu ses services dans la région et offre des camps à Casselman, Rockland, Hawkesbury et Alexandria. Le groupe cherche à répondre aux besoins sociocommunautaires et éducatifs en offrant différents services à la communauté de Prescott Russell, dont des camps de tous HFOSFTBVYKFVOFTEFBOTÆBOTEVSBOU MFTDPOHÊTTDPMBJSFT /PÌM SFMÄDIFEFNBST vacances d’été); des services de soutien TDPMBJSFQPVSMFTÊUVEJBOUTEFUPVTÄHFT (avancement scolaire); ainsi que différentes activités aux personnes à besoins spéciaux.
Cette année, la candidature du comté de Russell du groupe 4-H pour un échange interclubs a été sélectionnée et 10 des 4-H de 12 à 17 ans ont été jumelés au district de Drumheller, en Alberta. Après leur voyage en Alberta, le groupe de Russell a accueilli leurs jumeaux albertains dans la région, au cours de la deuxième quinzaine de juillet. Avec la collaboration de la Nation Sud et du programme 4-H (Mes Mains au service de ma communauté), la journée de travail communautaire s’est déroulée au parc W.E. Burton de Russell, afin de rafraîchir les arrangements près d’une affiche, d’en construire une nouvelle, et puis de faire un peu d’entretien des sentiers et procéder à un nettoyage des déchets. —photo fournie
