Welcome New Board Members Joining the Library Foundation Board of Directors: Kris Maslonka, Don Rau and Tim Williams

Kris Maslonka is a lifelong bookworm who never forgot that thrill, discovered as a child, of having her own library card and being trusted to borrow an armful of books. Although she never pursued the path to become a librarian, Kris did earn her master’s degree in library and information sciences from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI. This has served her well as a university grants administrator, which she has been doing for over a decade after working as a laboratory technician and having previously served in the United States Marine Corps Reserves. Kris resides in Odenton, with her dog, her coffee pot and a stack of books.

Don Rau is a government services professional with over fifteen years of experience in state, local and federal government affairs. Currently he serves as the chief of staff for Maryland State Senator Michael A. Jackson and he has previously served as a legislative staffer for Senate President Thomas V. ‘Mike’ Miller, Jr., Senator James ‘Ed’ DeGrange, Sr., and the Maryland House of Delegates’ Environmental Matters Committee. A lifelong resident of Anne Arundel County, he is an alumnus of Granite Baptist School in Glen Burnie, and the University of Maryland in College Park. He resides in Severn with his wife Charity and pomeranian Oreo. A life-long library cardholder, he believes in the importance of literacy and is honored to join our board to make the library better. Tim Williams spent 36 years on the staff of a large environmental nonprofit and worked on Capitol Hill and for the Maryland General Assembly. He received a bachelor’s degree in government and politics from the University of Maryland. Tim currently serves as vice chair of the Board of Directors for Annapolis Pride. Past volunteer roles include serving on a citizen advisory committee for the Anne Arundel County water utility, on the board for the South County Cooperative Preschool and as chair of the Equality Maryland Political Action Committee. Tim has two adult daughters (both AACPS teachers working in Annapolis) and five grandchildren. He lives in Edgewater with Jessie, his partner of 22 years and the two are devoted dog dads to an eight-year-old rescue pointer named Remmie. Early memories include visits to the Magruder branch library in downtown Hyattsville, MD., with his mother. These days he can often be found chaperoning his grandchildren at Babies in Bloom or Toddler Time at either the Edgewater or Busch Annapolis branches.
