SELECTED FY25 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Equitable Opportunities and Outcomes -
The high school is in the process of implementing a five-year plan to reduce the number of course levels in order to provide more equitable access to advanced courses and offer a broader range of learning and social environments. We are currently in year 2 of this plan. We have seen marked Increases in the numbers of students taking higher level courses. Students have experienced success in both academic achievement and engagement levels. Students and staff also report positive experiences from more diverse learning environments.
Social and Emotional Learning -
The high school is in its third year of a new advisory program. The goals of our advisory are to build connections between peers and staff and to support student resiliency and agency. Students and staff report satisfaction with the weekly multi-grade level advisory structure. Students enjoy connections formed with students in other grade levels and their advisory teachers. Advisory activities and events contribute to community building in our large high school. Engagement - Administrators and teachers prioritized engagement through improved attendance practices, protocols, and family communication. Unexcused absences in the first quarter have decreased by 25% since last year. - Purposeful, engaging and more frequent assemblies and events such as grade level meetings, Assistant Principal Team contests, and spirit events (Senior Clapout, Social Justice, Homecoming Dance, and Community Building Flex Block) have promoted a sense of belonging, enthusiasm, and AB pride. - The continued focus on our classroom cell phone policy (implemented in 2023-2024) helps students put their devices away during instruction, and staff and students alike report feeling more connected during class. Culturally Responsive Teaching Practices - Our Culturally Responsive Teacher Leaders led staff professional learning on responding to incidents of bias in the high school classroom and school setting.
