FY26 BUDGET PRIORITIES, INITIATIVES & BUDGETARY CONSIDERATIONS ● Despite the significant increase in the number of preschool student evaluations, screenings and consultations following the pandemic, CHECP has been without a school psychologist since FY ‘21 due to previous school district budget reductions. Priorities are to add the following staff: ○ Add a .2 School Counselor/Social Worker to provide social-emotional and behavioral health services and consultation to young students/families who are experiencing behavioral health challenges. ■ CHECP has never had a school counselor or social worker. The needs of students and families have become more complex and require a staff trained in mental health to address the increased social-emotional and behavioral health challenges young children are experiencing. The Early Childhood Coordinator currently provides consultation and support to families, CHECP staff and local childcare providers to address these challenges. ○ Add a .1 Psychologist to complete psychological testing for mandated special education evaluations. ■ CHECP has not had a school psychologist since the 2020-2021 school year due to budget cuts. CHECP
previously had a .2 school psychologist for preschool evaluations, screenings and for consultation to parents and staff regarding students' social/emotional/behavioral needs. Special Education psychological evaluations are currently provided through contract services.
