ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Under the umbrella of Operations is the ABSRD office of Facilities. The Facilities Department team consists of the Facility Coordinator, Asst Facilities Coordinator / Capital Projects Manager, Energy Manager, Office Manager, Trades, and ABRSD custodial and grounds staff. The Facilities Department is responsible for the daily operation, long-term maintenance and capital planning of 8 buildings, athletic fields, and associated properties. In total this makes up approximately 950,000 SF of facility building space on approximately 140 acres of property which includes a more than 300 LF covered boardwalk that allows passage over Fort Pond Brook. This provides egress from the Boardwalk (Douglas/Gates School) Campus to the extended parking area / outdoor playground off of Elm Street. In FY25 We reduced our FTE by three. Although challenging, in the FY26 budget request we are not requesting additional FTE. ● Daily custodial support to the 8 ABRSD buildings and Central Office ● Daily Preventative maintenance and repair of mechanical systems, fixtures, building envelope and interior finishes. ● Parking Lot, Roadway, Walkway (Flatworks) care and maintenance ● Capital planning, implementation, and management ● Operational procurement ● Managing the district's energy consumption and carbon footprint ● Support for the ABRSD Athletic Department in field preparation, maintenance, and upkeep ● Snow removal
SELECTED FY25 ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Blanchard Kitchen Floor - The kitchen floor was chipping, stained and deteriorated. All equipment was removed and installation of a new epoxy floor has been completed. Admin Building Roof Replacement - The administrative building has been plagued by leaks over the past few years. The roof has received dozens of patches and repairs only giving way to new leaks. The membrane is more than twice past its EUL and has been scheduled for replacement. We conducted a moisture analysis and the project has gone through the procurement process. The roof is scheduled for replacement in spring 2025. Boardwalk (Douglas/Gates/CHECP) - The Boardwalk Campus building continues to perform at a very high level of efficiency, and is using even less energy than projected. The building was awarded “2024 Green Building of the Year” by the US Green Building Council Massachusetts Chapter, and was highlighted in an Eversource “Customer Story” video. HS Tennis Court Resurfacing - The five tennis courts at the HS were constructed in 2005 and were found to be in need of major repair with multiple large cracks, alligator cracking and overall deterioration. Procurement has been completed and The repair and resurfacing has been scheduled to be completed before the start of the 2025/26 school year.
