​ ​ ORGANIZATION/PROGRAM DESCRIPTION Transportation Department/Program Overview ​ ​

Under the umbrella of the Department of Finance & Operations, the Transportation Department is responsible for the total general education student transportation operation. On a daily basis, the general education transportation operation for ABRSD provides AM & PM transportation to school for approximately 5,248 students daily on 74 bus routes (37 elementary routes servicing the 6 elementary schools and 37 secondary level buses servicing the High School & RJ Grey). In addition we provide 2 Kindergarten bus routes mid day as well as 2 late bus routes that service the High School & RJ Grey daily. Excluding the Director of Finance & Operations, the work associated with the general education transportation system for ABRSD is accomplished with two twelve month administrative FTE, one dispatcher, 41 bus drivers and 7 crossing guards.

Acton Boxborough Regional School District leases and operates a fleet of 45 school buses: 1 gasoline minibus

1 diesel wheelchair accessible bus 1 diesel 77 passenger hydraulic bus 42 diesel 83 passenger buses

The fleet is maintained by our district Head Mechanic under the supervision of the operations department.

SELECTED FY25 ACCOMPLISHMENTS Efficiently maintained reduction of routes from the projected 42 routes with the bell time change. Reduced 2 diesel 83 passenger buses from fleet. Reduced 1 diesel half bus from fleet. Increased usage of district operated buses for athletics.
