Samuel Cardarelli has joined Lorrain Séguin and Yanick Villeneuve as candidates GPS8BSEPG$MBSFODF3PDLMBOE5IJTXBSE which covers part of Rockland, is presently represented by Councillor Jean-Marc Lalonde. Diane Choinière, who has recently returned to her seat at the table after a medical leave, will be fighting to stay on against newbie candidate Melissa Gaudreau. Marc-André Fournier, Don Bouchard and Yvon Simoneau are the three candidates for 8BSEPG3PDLMBOE'PSNFSDJUZDPVODJMMPS Bernard Payer was previously also amongst the candidates for this ward, but he has since dropped out of the race. Finally, René Campeau and Michel Levert will be running against each other, for the second time in BSPX GPS8BSE$VSSFOU$PVODJMMPS.JDIFM Levert beat Campeau in the last elections PG
Now that the deadline has passed for municipal candidates to present themselves, some candidates have already been elected by acclamation, while others have gained some new competition. Mario Zanth and Carl Grimard have both been reelected by acclamation in the 3PDLMBOE BSFB GPS8BSE BOE8BSE respectively. This will be a second consecutive man- date for both councillors. Also returning to the municipal council table is André J. Lalonde, who also ran unopposed. Lalonde XJMMSFQSFTFOU8BSEPGUIFNVOJDJQBMJUZ which covers the Clarence Creek area. The Clarence-Rockland municipal council has also gained a newcomer. Christian 4JNBSEXBTFMFDUFECZBDDMBNBUJPOGPS8BSE 6 of the municipality, which covers the Saint- Pascal-Baylon area. This seat is presently occupied by his wife, Councillor Krysta Simard, who made the decision to take a step back from politics. This will be Christian Simard’s first actual direct experience in dealing with municipal politics. Mayor Guy Desjardins will be seeking another term in the upcoming elections in October, but not without opposition. Donald Veilleux has thrown his hat into the ring for the mayor position.
