CHI CHI THE RESCUE DOG

A QUADRUPLE AMPUTEE WHO INSPIRES THE WORLD

Auto insurance can be one of the most important insurance policies you can buy. All states require some form of auto insurance, and these policies help you pay for unexpected expenses after accidents. Understanding what kind of coverage you need and what options are available can be complicated and confusing. Arm yourself with the following knowledge about auto insurance and be better prepared next time you hit the road. UNDERSTANDING WHAT YOU NEED AND HOW YOU CAN PROTECT YOURSELF AUTO INSURANCE 101 “She stole my heart,” Howell said, taken by how Chi Chi was still wagging her tail despite her injuries. After seeing Chi Chi’s perseverance and her will to live, Elizabeth and her family took on the challenge. There were struggles as Chi Chi learned to trust people again, but with time, Chi Chi found peace and joy with her new family. In Georgia, policy holders must follow the 25/50/25 rule. This means drivers and their vehicles must be covered with $25,000 per person bodily injury liability, $50,000 to cover multiple drivers, and $25,000 for property damage liability. Georgia drivers are not allowed to drive without proof of insurance, and insurance companies must file each policy with the Georgia Electronic Insurance Compliance System. Law enforcement and other agencies use this database when checking drivers’ legality, such as when a police officer pulls you over. Failure to abide by these laws leaves drivers susceptible to fines and penalties, such as a license suspension and limits on registering new vehicles. Additionally, being uninsured leaves you In our darkest moments, it can be hard to believe joy can be found again. But one amazing dog proves that no matter what happens, through love and patience, we can make the world a better place. Chi Chi is a golden retriever who was found in a dumpster by an animal rescue group in South Korea. Badly injured and left in a garbage bag with her legs bound together, the only way to save Chi Chi’s life was to amputate all four of her legs. As she recovered, the call went out to find a family who could care for a dog with serious medical needs. As a quadruple amputee, just getting Chi Chi’s prosthetics on so she could go outside in the morning would be time-consuming. Fortunately, Elizabeth Howell from Arizona saw a video about Chi Chi’s plight online. WHAT DO I NEED?

“She exemplifies resilience and forgiveness and willingly shares her love and compassion in abundance,” Howell has said. “Her sweet-

tempered and gentle spirit opens people’s hearts and her perceptive spirit senses where her love is needed.”

Chi Chi’s vet has called her a “miracle dog,” referring both to the fact that she survived losing all her legs and to the joy she brings to the world. Today, Chi Chi is a registered therapy dog, offering strength, love, and support to those who need it most. She visits VA hospitals, assisted living facilities, and children with disabilities. To celebrate her journey of survival, courage, and love, Chi Chi was honored with the American Humane Hero Dog Award in 2018. at risk for a lawsuit and more out-of-pocket payouts should you be at-fault for an accident.

WHAT ABOUT ADDITIONAL PROTECTION?

Because some drivers cruise the Peach State’s roadways without insurance, uninsured or underinsured motorist coverage is designed to protect those with insurance should they get in an accident with drivers who have little or no insurance. These programs require your insurance company to pay out the remaining deficit of accident costs left by uninsured or underinsured motorists should they be at-fault for an accident. This costs more than regular insurance, but it’s an extra step toward getting you the compensation you deserve. We always recommend our clients have at least a $100,000 uninsured/ underinsured motorist policy to protect themselves. While auto insurance is always a safe and smart protection plan to have, most insurance companies place higher value on making money than providing fair compensation for injuries and claims.
