Deep space

Answering the question

So will we ever explore beyond the cis-lunar barrier? The answer is yes, undoubtedly. If what Musk is saying is true, then we can expect to have humans outside Low Earth Orbit (LEO) by the end of the decade, but this will only be astronauts and scientists who have been sent out to research and report back. Until there is an established foundation of spacecraft outside LEO, which is hopefully going to become a reality shortly, commercial space travel beyond the cis-lunar barrier will not be available to the public. This will take a while. There are some commercial LEO aircraft which cost more than $400,000, making them only available to the elite, which is <1% of the total population. Hopefully, this price will drop as more competitors enter the LEO spacecraft market, but in the next decade or two it will remain similar. It might take 10 or 100 years, but we will get into deep space and, at some point, deep space commercial travel will become a reality, where the only limitations are the universe (Cuthbertson, 2022).
