T hree phases. Four days. A host of superstars. From the elegance of the dressage, to the bravery of horse and rider across the country before everything culminates in the show jumping phase where there is no room for error; eventing is the supreme test of horse and rider. Taking place in the beautiful grounds of Blenheim Palace from Thursday 16th to Sunday 19th September, the horse trials are a key fixture in the eventing calendar including the FEI-accredited and internationally-recognised competitions; a CCI4*-L (four-star Long) and CCI4*-S for eight and nine-year-old horses (four-star Short). The Jockey Club is delighted to be running the event for the first time in 2021, and for the next five years.

Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials has a reputation for producing exciting talent and kick- starting the careers of many riders and horses. The long-format winner in 2010, William Fox-Pitt’s Parklane Hawk, also went on to greater things, giving his jockey a record sixth victory at Burghley the next year. Altogether, William has five Blenheim victories to his credit. And, more recently, the 2018 CCI4*-S winner, Laura Collett’s London 52 took home Olympic Gold in the team eventing at the Tokyo Olympics this summer

Managing Director of The Jockey Club West, Ian Renton, described the excitement of The Jockey Club running the event: “What we have achieved at Cheltenham over many years has been the result of focusing everything on being for the benefit of all our participants and racegoers. This is a wonderful opportunity to bring that approach to eventing, especially at a venue as iconic as Blenheim. “The Jockey Club model is that we are a commercial body which puts all of our profits back into the sport in a variety of ways. We would be looking at something similar at Blenheim where we can increase the revenues through things like new partnerships, ticket sales and hospitality. We can then invest that in
