j) Design structural steel beams, columns and lintels in accordance with the Steel Construction Manual of the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) specifications for design of formed structural members. k) Design metal deck in accordance with Steel Deck Institute specifications. Minimum corrugated roof deck thickness shall be 22-gauge. l) Welding shall comply with American Welding Society ANSI/AWS D1.1-96. Miscellaneous Metals Miscellaneous metal items are to be provided where necessary and are to include but are not limited to the following: a) 4’-0” high x 6” diameter concrete filled steel pipe guard posts set in concrete 3’-6” deep at fire riser (if required), at inside/outside of sides of grade level overhead doors and on each side of gate opening at dumpster enclosure. b) Roof or wall opening framing for heating, ventilation or air conditioning equipment. c) Overhead door jambs / framing. d) Provide all required personnel roof hatch access ladder(s) per code. e) Truck well railings, stairway railings and mezzanine railings f) Loading dock frames / pit angles g) 100’ of single rail floor mounted guard railing. Assembly to include 42” high steel 4”x 4” x ¼” square posts at 10’-0” on center with single bolt-on ribbed 10 gauge high tensile steel rails. Color to be caution yellow h) Utility trench edge. i) Miscellaneous framing, lintels, truck well guardrail and edge angles as required. j) Provide steel framing for pressure relief louver panels.
5.2.
5.3. Process Miscellaneous Metals a) Steel bed plates, trench grating covers and other requirements identified in Technical Matrix and as necessary for a complete process installation. b) Trenches with stainless steel checkered tread plate cover shall be constructed on each side of the bedplates for routing services to the engine below floor level. c) Each dynamometer test cell shall be provided flush mounted cast iron T-slot bedplates mounted on concrete inertia pad. Bedplates shall measure a minimum of 6 feet wide by 18 feet long and 8” thick. Install bedplates, level and anchor to inertia block and grout in place.
6. ROOF SYSTEM 6.1. Roofing
a) Provide a fully adhered 60-mil single-ply EPDM rubber membrane roof system as manufactured by Firestone® or equivalent installed over rigid insulation. b) Provide manufacturer’s fifteen (15) year written warranty on roof system. c) A licensed applicator approved by the roof system manufacturer shall install the roof system. d) EPDM roof system shall meet all technical installation requirements recommended by Manufacturer. e) Roof substrate shall be structurally sound, smooth, clean, dry, and free of sharp fins or foreign materials that could damage the roof material. f) Provide rigid roof insulation to provide a minimum value of R-14. g) Provide roof parapet of at least 12”. h) Provide roof area maintenance walk pads (to HVAC units). i) Provide all roof curb systems and flashing for all roof curbs necessary for HVAC, process equipment, process exhausts and intake vents and any other roof mounted equipment. j) Provide all required cants, saddles, flashing, copings and trim.
