E. No interruptions to Owner's power, lighting, signal, or alarm circuits will be permitted without the express written permission of the Owner. Arrangements for interruptions shall be made with the Owner at least forty-eight (48) hours prior to the interruption and shall be made at such time and duration as authorized by them. Temporary feeders, transformer jumpers, connections, circuits, etc., shall be used as required to accomplish the above at no additional cost to the Owner and Leopardo Companies Inc.. F. Subcontractors shall construct the Work in stages to provide for public convenience. Subcontractors shall not close off public use of facilities until completion of one stage of construction will provide alternative usage, or until other means have been provided.

2.05

PROTECTION OF UNDERGROUND FACILITIES

A. Each Subcontractor shall provide and maintain proper shoring and bracing for existing underground utilities, sewers, and building foundations, encountered during its excavation Work, to protect from collapse or movement, or other type of damage until such time as they are to be removed, incorporated into the new Work or can be properly backfilled upon completion of new Work. All such disruptions of services shall be limited to a maximum of [INSERT FOUR (4) OR APPROPRIATE DURATION] hours. Prior to beginning any excavation, Subcontractor shall contact the appropriate underground utility location company and utility companies for the location of all existing underground services and provide, if requested, documentation of such contact to Leopardo Companies Inc.. If necessary, Subcontractor shall pay for appropriate layout and locating of existing utilities. B. Utilities and/or other services which are shown, or not shown but encountered, shall be protected by the Subcontractor from any damage arising or resulting from Work, unless or until they are abandoned. If the utilities or services are damaged from Subcontractor’s Work Subcontractor shall immediately repair any damage and restore the utilities and services to an equal or better condition than that which existed prior to the damage. Subcontractor will be responsible for all liabilities, expenses, lawsuits or claims arising or resulting from such damage and will defend, hold harmless and indemnify Owner and Leopardo Companies Inc. from any claims or law suits or other expenses. C. Each Subcontractor on behalf of itself and its Subordinate Parties shall be responsible for all damage to the Project including the existing building and grounds arising out of or resulting from their performance of the Work. Repair or replacement of damaged items shall be to the satisfaction of the Owner and Leopardo Companies Inc..

G. These provisions shall apply to all Subcontractors and are applicable whether a Subcontractor is either directly or indirectly affected.

2.07

MATERIAL STORAGE

A. Each Subcontractor shall provide suitable storage trailers on site as required. These are to be relocated and removed when directed by Leopardo Companies Inc..

A. All Subcontractors and their Subordinate Parties are required to provide and pay for off-site storage facilities as required for their Work.

B. [INSERT IF REQUIRED - All Subcontractors [INSERT are required to provide/will not be allowed] on- site storage facilities OR temporary storage of materials in the building and on the site will be limited to the same areas immediately under construction for materials intended for that particular portion of the Work. Material, equipment and tools shall not be stored on site in excess of five (5) working days prior to installation or use without Leopardo Companies Inc.’s approval.] Subcontractors shall stock the job with sufficient materials to maintain progress and schedule and without interfering with the Work or storage of others. Each Subcontractor assumes full responsibility for the protection and safekeeping of products under its control which are stored on the site. Subcontractors must move any stored products, under their control, which interfere with operations of the Owner or separate contractors as directed by Leopardo Companies Inc.. All Subcontractors are to cooperate with Leopardo Companies Inc. and other contractors in this regard.

2.06

NO INTERRUPTION OF OCCUPANCY/SEQUENCING

A. Each Subcontractor is responsible to plan, coordinate and execute its Work in such a manner that there will be no disruption of the Owner's operations. If an interruption of operations is unavoidable, then this Work will be scheduled with the Owner through the Leopardo Companies Inc. prior to beginning such Work. B. Due to the nature of the Owner’s existing areas, the sequence of Work must be scheduled and coordinated with the Owner’s ongoing operations to minimize disruptions and/or disturbances to the Owner’s Work and at all times remain as secondary to the Owner’s operations. Each segment of the Work shall be coordinated with the Leopardo Companies Inc. and the Owner prior to proceeding. C. Work that interrupts the Owner's services will be accomplished during the time periods when it is least inconvenient to the Owner and completed in the shortest possible time frame. Subcontractors may be requested to work split shifts, weekends, off peak Owner loading periods, etc., to accommodate Owner's utility and service requirements, such as, but not limited to, medical gas systems, electrical power, HVAC systems, storm and sanitary lines. [INSERT IF REQUIRED - All Work shall be bid on a straight time basis. Should premium time be required by the Owner, the Contractor shall be reimbursed the premium time portion based on predetermined overtime rates /OR The cost for premium time labor, which may be required, is the Contractor's responsibility and is to be included in the base bid.] D. Subcontractors are responsible to provide any temporary alternate supply and/or return conditions to maintain services to the facility while Work is being performed for each Bid Category. Place safety stages or markers to indicate location of disconnected services.

C. Each Subcontractor shall provide sufficient protection for its materials and equipment from damages by weather or construction work or other hazards.

D. During progress of Work and upon completion of the Work, Subcontractors shall remove all debris and leave the area in a clean and orderly condition.

E. Each Subcontractor shall submit a receipt of shipment for all equipment stored on site or off-site to the Leopardo Companies Inc.. No materials or equipment shall be removed from the site without the permission of Leopardo Companies Inc..

F. Storage of combustible materials within or adjacent to the building is prohibited.

F. Work in and around occupied patient care areas may need to be performed during off hours and the timing of such Work shall be coordinated with Leopardo Companies Inc..

SECTION 01170 INFECTION CONTROL PROCEDURES

G. At all times during construction, Work areas shall be safe and accessible to Leopardo Companies Inc., Architect and Owner and methods of Work may be reviewed by Leopardo Companies Inc. and the Owner and evaluated for effectiveness. The right to conduct such a review shall in no event be interpreted as a requirement for Leopardo Companies Inc. or Owner to conduct such review, and any review conducted at the election of Leopardo Companies Inc. or Owner shall not relieve Subcontractor of its obligations under the Agreement. Each Subcontractor must comply with any revisions to these procedures as necessary.

SUBMITTALS

A. Attention is directed to Bidding and Contract Requirements and to Division 1 General Requirements, the attached Matrix of Precautions for Construction & Renovation [THIS FORM SHOULD BE FILLED OUT PRIOR TO BIDDING – if possible - BY LCI PERSONNEL IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE OWNER AND ARCHITECT], [IF APPLICABLE INSERT and the attached Owner’s Infection Control Procedures] , which are hereby made a part of this section.

A. Prior to starting Work, Subcontractor shall submit to Leopardo Companies Inc., for subsequent review and approval by the Owner’s Infection Control Committee, an outline of proposed equipment, materials and/or procedures in accordance with the Matrix of Precautions for Construction & Renovation, the Owner’s Infection Control Procedures and specifications for each of the following: 1. Systems, arrangements and locations of interim and impervious dust barriers. 2. Clean-up, debris removal and dust/debris control systems. 3. Circulation control systems to and from Work areas for construction personnel and materials. 4. Filtered vacuum equipment, ventilation equipment and filtration equipment.

B. Section 01500 Interim Life Safety Plan.

PURPOSE

A. The purpose of this section is to identify areas of risk in operational special care environments that could be adversely affected by construction, and to require the responsible Subcontractor to determine how to perform the necessary construction activities successfully and safely in these environments.

PART 2 EXECUTION

2.01

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

DESCRIPTION

A. For each area of Work, determine which Class of Construction Activity or Risk Level is to be performed as noted either on the Construction Documents, or on the Matrix of Precautions for Construction & Renovation. No Work should be started without the consent of Leopardo Companies Inc.. Work shall be carried out appropriately in accordance with the Description of Recommended Infection Control Precautions by Class, and as follows: 1. Class 1 – Class 1 Work is very short-term Work (several hours at maximum) and for visual inspections. All Subcontractors shall perform the following: i. Barriers are not required – execute Work by methods using methods that minimize raising dust to the greatest extent possible. ii. When removing ceiling tiles, special attention is required of tile removal to not disperse airborne dust into the atmosphere. Tiles shall be tilted into the ceiling cavity and rails are to be wiped clean with a damp rag. Limit ceiling tile removal to two tiles within 100 square feet of area at a time. iii. Adjacent doors must be kept closed whenever possible. iv. After Work is completed, damp wipe or mop all dust and debris from Work area. 2. Class 2 – Class 2 Work is short-term Work (typically several weeks in duration). In addition to Class 1 requirements, all Subcontractors unless otherwise noted shall perform the following: i. Temporary barriers are required and shall be installed by the [insert Contractor / Bid Category]. This Subcontractor shall verify Interim Life Safety measures are not compromised due to barrier installation. Use of fire-rated visqueen dust partitions may be required by the Owner’s facilities or governing inspectors. Barriers must be tightly sealed to the adjacent floor, ceiling and walls with tape and shall be maintained to prevent rips or tearing.

A. Work in this Section includes Infection Control Procedures to be implemented by [All Contractors/Subcontractors OR DESIGNATED CONTRACTOR/SUBCONTRACTOR] for construction projects.

B. Work in this Section shall include, but is not limited to work described in this Section.

1.04

QUALITY CONTROL

A. Subcontractor shall perform all work pertaining to Infection Control measures in accordance with applicable federal, state and local requirements including, but not limited to ANSI Z9.2: Fundamentals Governing Design and Operation of Local Exhaust Systems.

B. Expenses for all infection control measures as described below shall be included in each Subcontractor’s base bid price.

C. Subcontractor shall anticipate interruption of services, temporary relocations, and area closures and shall proactively plan for such before Work commences and shall submit its plan for review to Leopardo Companies Inc. prior to commencing Work.

D. Work or investigations in any occupied department or area shall not take place without first coordinating with other affected Subcontractors and Leopardo Companies Inc..

E. Should any breaches or deficiencies in the infection control implementations as described below be identified, Subcontractor shall immediately notify Leopardo Companies Inc. so the situation can be corrected.
