Curriculum belief
We believe that children should be actively engaged in their learning and be given the opportunity to take ownership of it , which is why at Abbey we work with our students to plan a curriculum based on their interests. To provide memorable learning opportunities, we have introduced the 'Abbey Bucket List' , comprised of experiences that your child will have if they journey with us from Nursery to Year Six.
In additon, by working closely with our parents, we have developed a 'Sof Skills' * menu, focusing on essental work skills s uch as decision-making, leadership, creatvity, problem- solving, teamwork, responsibility and communicaton.
We also have a ' Life Skills' list which includes actvites such as catching the bus, making an emergency call, performing basic frst aid, making a hot drink, cooking, putng away clothes, brushing teeth, handwashing, road safety and wearing seatbelts. Our goal is to create a broad and balanced curriculum that inspires, motvates and caters to the needs of our community *Sof skills is a term ofen associated with a person's "EQ" (Emotonal Intelligence Quotent), the cluster of personality traits, social graces, communicaton, language, personal habits, interpersonal skills, managing people, leadership, etc. that characterise relatonships with other people.
