Diagnosing Vehicle Networks and Data Lines 2/15/20, 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Class #123, DeVos River Overlook G CAN, CCD, PCI, Class 2, SCP, UART Data Line Networks, and more! This class is about prac- tical analysis, not serial data theory. When a MIL is lit, the scanner is normally the first tool to choose to ID DTC’s and data stream. When the scanner does not communicate or if series net- work codes are set, it can often leave a tech with no direction. This class is designed to help the technician attack a no communication problem with confidence, by learning how on-board com- puters are tied together with multiplex networks. 1996-2011 Networks covered in this class will include: CCD, PCI, Class 2, SCP, CAN, UART, and more! CAN (Controller Area Networks) is the latest of communications network, which was phased into all cars by 2008. This class will cover the 2-minute diagnostic test, which will quickly put you on the right path to diagnosing these systems. This class is also a great prep for the ASE L1 exam, as the L1 exam also includes CAN Learn how to use modern electronic test equipment to diagnose mechanical engine failures with minimal or no engine tear down. Current probes and pressure transducers coupled with a digital storage oscilloscope can be extremely valuable if the captures can be obtained and analyzed correctly. Use these tech- niques to make accurate and efficient diagnosis. Presented By: The Driveability Guys Speaker: Scott Shotton

Mode $06 Data and Drive Cycle Diagnostics 2/15/20, 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Class #221, DeVos Gallery Overlook E Prerequisites: Proficiency with the scan tool and an understanding of OBD-II and vehicle ignition systems Mode $06 data is some of the most misunder- stood and underused scan tool data available on today’s vehicles. This course will help you understand and in- terpret Mode $06 data in order to use it to its full advantage. Mode $06 diagnostic skills also allows technicians the opportunity to identify marginally performing components and advise the vehicle owner of future potential problems. Combined with drive cycle diagnostics, Mode $06 diagnostic skills can be viewed as an “insur- ance policy” against unnecessary comebacks. Presented By: Delphi Speaker: Mark DeKoster Modern vehicles often have multiple communi- cation networks on board. These networks can fail in a number of different ways causing myriad customer complaints or issues. A single module, multiple modules or an entire network can be affected. This class will offer a logical process for approaching communication failures that is applicable to almost any car that may roll in the door.
