A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 7
It was lovely to welcome Year 7 back after their half term break. It is going to be a busy last half term in Year 7 with lots of activities for them to be involved in. On Tuesday we had the first in a series of assemblies with the topic “Our Air, Our Action.”Year 7 discussed the issues surrounding air pollution and climate change and started thinking about what they can do to help make things better. Students will have the opportunity to be part of a ‘working party’ of 18 volunteers from Years 7 and 8 to work through four workshops. The Year 7/8 rounders team played a match against Hampton High this week read more in the sports fixtures section on page 3. Well done to the following 3 tutor groups, who are at the top of the Epraise leaderboard: 3rd 7PCO, 2nd 7EEL and 1st 7PFO 7PFO.
Congratulations to the top 3 individuals for Epraise totals: 3rd Dominique P, 2nd Mia B and 1st Kate C.
Next week Year 7 are going to start to write their letters to the new Year 7 students who will be starting in Sep- tember, giving them a flavour of all of the different activities that they have been involved in, what to look for- ward to and some Year 7 top tips! I am sure the new Year 7 will really appreciate their insights into life at Walde- grave.
Good luck to the U13 cricket team who are playing in the RSSP tournament next week.
Have a lovely weekend.

BOOK OF THE MONTH
‘The Princess and the Suffragette’ by Holly Webb This is a truly inspirational book about the struggles for women and children in the early 1900s. Set in 1913, the book revolves around the suffragette movement, a campaign group active from 1903 to 1914 which used direct action to advance their aim of achieving women’s suffrage (the right to vote) in the United Kingdom. The book describes the difference in lifestyle for the poor and the rich, covering relatable topics such as divorce and adoptions. I loved how relatable all the characters were and it has slowly become one of my favourite novels of all time! I suggest this book to any historical drama fans, comedy and even non-fiction lovers. Read this if you enjoyed the ‘Rebel Girl’ series or ‘Secretly a suffragette’. I absolutely recommend this book to all ages!
