The thing which particular ly disturbs us is the fact that while such teaching can be given in many schools, yet, it is against the law to mention in these same schools the truth of Creation as given in the Bible. But a shaft of life pierces the dark picture as we can thank God for the number of Christian teachers of true science, who present to their classes both sides of the question. Maybe some of you have wondered, from time to time, why a number of our students say that they are going to teach school. Perhaps you would rather hear them say that they are going to become preachers or missionaries — we need them to be sure. But with the growing tendency of such teaching in public schools, we honestly believe, and I am sure you can see the reasoning, that one of the most needful mission fields in the world today is our schools — the situation is desperate! That is why we are seeking to secure funds with which to build facilities and enable us to train more of these dedicated youths for places of leadership in our schools — yes in your schools. We mentioned the subject of com parative anatomy which has been used by evolutionists to attempt to prove the truth of their theories. Eight of the eleven texts studied, state that similar ity of structure •proves this point. For- instance, an evolutionist will study the flipper of the whale, the wing of a bird, the foreleg of a horse, and the arm of a man, and thereby conclude that because they are somewhat simi lar, the various creatures must be re lated on the evolutionary scale. But, as a Christian teacher, Cora Reno points out in her excellent book, published by Moody Press, “Resemblances do not prove evolution. First of all they could be the result of a common plan in the mind of God. Then, it is logical to think that the Lord would use the same plan for animals that were to walk the same earth, breathe the same air and eat the same food. It is not a
question of what He is able to do, but what He actually did.” As we look at the development of man, we see those of different stature — pygmies, tall Nordics, midgets, et cetra. Does it take imagination to be lieve that from a common set of dogs, all such animals exist today, and that from Adam and Eve came all the hu man race? Now let us look at the prob lem which evolutionists cannot an swer. Structural similarities cannot be carried out consistently. Take the Tas manian wolf and the dog. Their skele tons are very similar, however, the wolf is a marsupial, carrying its young in a pouch, but the dog is not. They are not even closely related. Another argument which the evolu tionist will use, is that of geology. What do the texts tell the children on this point? “When all fossils are placed in the correct timetable, as revealed by the rocks in which they were trapped, a succession of organisms developing from simple to more and more complex is disclosed.” The Christian need not be afraid to study the actual record and meager evidence. If geology proves anything, it shows that all of the inter mediaries, that is those steps which point out the missing links, ate not to be found. We were interested to read a recent article in the Los Angeles Times which has, as they have termed, “science puz zled.” Please remember, however, that science and evolution are not synony mous terms, used interchangeably. True science is not confused, nor is it in disagreement with Biblical precepts. Here in the southland, the La Brea Tar Pits have revealed some interest ing facts.
