Québec environment ministry officials have confirmed that operations at a hydroelectric plant in Gatineau’s east end are responsible for the deaths of hundreds of fish which have washed up along the shores of the Ottawa River, as far at least as Rockland, during the past two months. The companies, which own and operate the plants, have been told to modify and monitor their procedures to prevent the situation from happening again.
