MIDDLE SCHOOL
• I learned I can do lots of things if my friends are there with me. • My second favourite activity was kayaking, working as a team with friends, doing games and just kayaking in general was really fun. • My favourite activity was raft building because I got to work together with people I didn’t know very well and try to use items to make a raft. Even if the raft didn’t work very well in the end, it was still fun to put it together and try to push it out into the water. Not only did our students have a blast, but they also learned valuable life skills. Way to go year 8s!
Year 8 Camp
On Wednesday the 8th of March, the Year 8s headed down to the Adare Campsite at Victor Harbour for three days of tenting and outdoor activities. First stop was the Murray Mouth Inlet to sketch the Coorong landscape and then on to Victor. After setting up the tents it was time for the first round of team challenges. The camp was a time for students to focus on our thread of ‘being humble’ Philippians 2:1-5, part our Servant Leadership theme this term. The outdoor activities, tenting and mealtimes were great opportunities for students to work together, love others and show humility. What did the Year 8’s think? • Bodyboarding was my favourite activity because it was fun riding the waves and getting destroyed by them. • I am thankful for spending time with my tribe. • I am thankful for Mr David’s devotion because it really helped me think about my relationship with God and helped me connect with Him. • I got to know my friends even more when around the table sharing about our days and laughing and making jokes. • My favourite activity was Kayaking because I love going out on the water and just having fun. • Bodyboarding was so much fun and that feeling of catching a wave that took you all the way to the shore was just amazing and I didn’t want it to end. • Raft building was challenging because it was hard to stay on top of the raft when the waves came along. • Sleeping in a tent exceeded my expectations in a good way.
