MINS 25
Activity and delivery instructions Developing myBehaviours – Bringing my Best Self to Work Workbook – individual activity– 15 mins State: It’s time for some self-reflection - this tool will help you to break down and encourage you to reflect on your own behaviours – explore your own ‘how’, discover where you demonstrate the ARCH values and where you might need to make any tweaks. This activity is all about bringing your best self to work through how you demonstrate the value-based behaviours. It can help you in: Getting better at what you already do Making sense of feedback you have received from a leader or colleague recently or in the past How we do our job is important - often more important than the knowledge we have and the job-related skills we possess. We have all worked with people who are great to be around - they nurture us, inspire performance and high levels of service, generally just make our life a whole lot more enjoyable. Equally, there has been that one person who is bursting with useful knowledge but for some reason we wouldn’t dare ask them for help, or someone who has years of experience but denies progress, instead choosing to work to outdated processes and methods. What you are witnessing in all these examples is their ‘how’ – their behaviours. This self-assessment is a useful exercise and by completing it you will benefit from: • Improved levels of self awareness - having a more realistic understanding of how committed you are to taking responsibility for our own work commitments and development needs. • Time to consider your awareness of others - understanding how, through your behaviours, you have an impact on your colleagues and residents and along the way identify your strengths or any adjustments you might need to make to your own personal style.

This new awareness can support us perform at our best, improving the contribution we make. All of us have developed some poorer behaviours – and that’s ok, it’s part of being a human, but choosing not to acknowledge them or do nothing about them is not ok. So acknowledge your good stuff, but be realistic - it should not all be pretty. Up for the challenge? So let’s do this… • Bring your complete honest self to this activity and complete the myBehaviours Self Assessment • Reflect – what did you find out about yourself? • Actions – what are you going to do about what you found (Development Plan) Have fun and enjoy your personal development journey!
