All of us have developed some poorer behaviours – and that’s ok, it’s part of being a human, but choosing not to acknowledge them or do nothing about them is not ok. So acknowledge your good stuff, but be realistic - it should not all be pretty. Up for the challenge? So let’s do this… • Bring your complete honest self to this activity and complete the myBehaviours Self Assessment • Reflect – what did you find out about yourself? • Actions – what are you going to do about what you found (Development Plan) Have fun and enjoy your personal development journey!
p3
How to create your personal development plan
Step 1 Work through the Self-Awareness behaviour ratings/descriptions as to where you see yourself from 1-4. The document guides you to total these and divided by 4 – giving you an overall rating for Self-Awareness. Step 2 As above for Awareness of Others Step 3 As above for Organisational Awareness
Step 4 Transfer your divided rating into the reflection area… (there is guidance/ an example to support this activity) Step 5 Move on to creating your PDP... (there is guidance/an example to support you with this)
Top tips The behaviours are for ALL colleagues of Anchor no matter the part you play , so think about your daily tasks and how you carry them out, how you interact and communicate with your residents and colleagues. Enjoy discovering where you can make even more of a difference. While this is your own work and will be shared with your line manager it is entirely up to you who else you share it with, we would encourage you to involve anyone who you think can help you with your development - your colleagues, line manager, and own team or a mentor.

Awareness of Others Organisational Awareness
What did I believe were my strengths in this area, what evidence did I have to back up my beliefs? Be kind to yourself! We all have our plus points. Having an awareness of these develops our self confidence and self esteem. Where did I think I could improve, what evidence did I have to make me think this? Nobody is perfect. Chances are that whatever you put in here is something you have known about for some time – this is your chance to acknowledge it and more importantly do something about it. What difference would it make if I improve this area? Your reasons why. Simply put, what you and every one else gets when to improve your behaviours (your how).

myBehaviours – Personal Development Area for focus
What will I do to remain focussed and create an improvement? What actions can I take? What activity can I take on? Tell others Talk about your focus. This can help your colleagues understand why you are behaving differently and might also encourage them to comment on any improvement – or slipping back into old ways! Do the things I don’t like first or prioritise if after anything that is truly urgent. Reward myself for doing the boring stuff! Measure my stress levels every day! (1-10) Have a look on myLearning for a simple time management tool. Tell my colleagues what I am working on changing this. When I feel overwhelmed, think about how I am interacting. Reflect on what happens to me and others. Practice pausing and breathing before I respond.
Why am I focussing on this and how will I know I am improving? What difference will it make (to me, to my colleagues, customers, Anchor) Tell others Talk about your focus. This can help your colleagues understand why you are behaving differently and might also encourage them to comment on any improvement – or slipping back into old ways!
When will I review my progress and who will I involve?
Be selective Behaviours are about developing new habits, if you chose too many areas to work on at the same time, you will lose focus. We recommend 2 or 3 at the very most.
Set a time frame Committing to a date to review progress is invaluable and involving someone in that commitment increased your chances of success.
I know I get side tracked and can procrastinate when I am faced with a job I don’t like – this means that sometimes I have to rush things at the last minute.
I wont feel so overwhelmed and stressed. I will have a sense of calm that’s missing these days.
Every shift to start with and then reflect each week on how good I was. Give myself a score (1- 10) and share with my manager.
I get snippy with I’m overwhelmed and this can come across when I’m busy. I don’t mean to be rude but I know I can come across as defensive.
My colleagues will have the version of me they like and we will get back to working better together. I won’t feel so mean! My stress levels will go down and when I go home at night stop going over thinks as much in my head.
At my next review I want to have moved up to ‘consistently achieving’ for self awareness.
