«We should know that the university is the perfect place for innovation. However, in Morocco, collaboration between research centers and businesses such as banks is not sufficiently developed. The example of data sharing is very instructive here. Few companies share their data, even encrypted, with universities or other external entities specializing in data processing. In my opinion, this is a big obstacle to innovation. However, it is worth mentioning that an external input is essential in this area; in that a third party has enough hindsight to see and find out what a company needs to do to overcome difficulties. This question is more crucial when we know that in other places, new players are able to compete with banking players on their own ground thanks to digital. In other countries, Orange operates in the banking sector with convincing results. Virtual banks are also multiplying. In Morocco, we must admit that banks are in a relatively comfortable situation because they are still protected by law. There is a big barrier to entering the banking industry. This means that the real adaptability of banks, which are still in the process of going digital, has not yet been tested.
