holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.” Thus Timothy was taught the scriptures by his godly grandmother and mother. (Place below the above mentioned circle a picture of the Bible.) Our last mother is Jochebed, the mother of Moses. (Place circle on the Scripturegraph board containing the name, Jochebed.) Jochebed is known as a mother of Faith. In Hebrews 11:23 we read, “By faith Moses, . . . was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s com mandment.” (Place on the Scripture graph board a picture of the baby

p OD’S WORD has much to say '-T about mothers. The Lord Jesus himself had a mother; and wherever the Gospel is preached and received, mothers and children are given their rightful place. Let us choose from the many women mentioned in the Word of God, a group which exem plifies the various steps in the Chris tian life. Eve will be our first, and rightly so for she is the very first mother of all. (Place on Scripturegraph board a 6-inch circle on which has been printed the name, Eve.) Eve’s story is a

name Ruth has been printed.) Ruth stands f o r D e cis ion . (Place below the n a m e R u th a circle containing a p i c t u r e o f Ruth, or of Ruth a n d N a o m i , below which is

placed the word, Decision.,) Ruth made a great decision that day so long ago when, looking into the face of her mother-in-law, Naomi, she said, “Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God: Where thou diest, will I die, and there will I be buried: the Lord do so to me, and more also, if ought but death part thee and me” (Ruth 1:16, 17). Our next mother stands for Prayer. Her name is Hannah. (Place on the Scripture board a circle on which is printed Hannah. Below this place hands folded in a circle containing prayer.)

er this group of mothers, I am sure that you can see that they all have a message for us today. Like Eve, we must needs realize that “all have sinned.” Like Mary we must be able to say, “My spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour.” Ruth made a great decision. We too must make the great decision that chooses the Lord Jesus to be our Saviour. “But as many as received him, to them gave he power to be come the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name” (John 1 : 12 ). I f we would grow in the Christian life we must learn from Hannah’s example to pray, and from Lois and Eunice the importance of studying the holy Scriptures. Prayer and Bible study promote growth in the Christian life. Like Jochebed we must have faith in God and believe that what He says He will do. “ Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God” (Rom. 10:17). Answers to Easter Bible Quiz 1. Below her name we will place this heart which for the most part is black. (Place on the Scripturegraph board below the name of Eve, a black heart outlined in red and white.) The black heart reminds us of Ro mans 5:12: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.” “ For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Rom. 6:23). But the red outline around the black heart reminds us of the fact that the Lord God pro vided a covering for Adam and Eve through the shedding of the blood of a substitute (Gen. 3:21). Now we have chosen Mary the mother of Jesus for the second mother. (Place on the Scripture graph board a circle on which the name Mary is printed.) B e l o w Ma r y ’ s

Hannah prayed for a son; God answer ed and sent her the lit tle baby Samuel. When pr esent ing him to the priest, Eli, she said, “ For this child I prayed; an d th e Lord petition which I

asked of him: Therefore also I have lent him to the Lord; as long as he liveth he shall be lent to the Lord. And he worshipped the Lord there” (1 Sam. 1:27,28). We will next hdnor .two mothers,- a grandmother and her daughter, Lois and Eunice, the grandmother and mother of the boy Timothy. (Place on the Scripturegraph board a circle on which are printed, Lois and Eunice .) In 2 Timothy 1:5 and 3:15 we read, “When I call to re membrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy LOIS - EUNICE grandmother Lois, and thy mo t he r Eu nice; and I a m persuad- ed t h a t i n t h e e also.” “ A n d t h a t from a child thou hast known the

name we will place this red cross, for though Mary was chosen to be the mother of our Lord Jesus, yet she real ized her need of a S a v i o u r . In the M a g n i f i c a t she sang, “ My spirit h a t h rejoiced in

God my Saviour” (Luke 1:47). We have chosen Ruth as the third mother. (Place bn the Scripture graph board a circle on which the PAGE TWENTY-TWO
