Sue: The T-Rex Experience This monthlong event in August is
Snooze at the Zoo Led by the Zoo Boise’s Education
Summer is in full swing, so here are three wonderful local events you can enjoy!
dedicated to exploring the sights, sounds, and smells of Sue the T-Rex’s world. The Discovery Center of Idaho partnered with the Micron Foundation to host a special exhibit featuring Sue, one of the most complete, well-preserved Tyrannosaurus rex skeletons ever discovered. This exhibit will feature an exact cast of Sue’s skeleton and new interactives and digital technologies that highlight the latest scientific discoveries and show guests what Sue’s world was like.
Department, the staff provides a fun-filled learning experience through programs about animals, the environment, and conservation. There will be evening and early morning treks through the zoo to investigate animals and their behavior, habitats, and care as well as activities, experiments, and free time to explore the zoo on your own. Overnighters may sleep in the Chitengo Camp tents on a first come, first served basis, but personal tents may be used. It will take place on Aug. 20, and the price per participant is $57, and children’s parent(s) must be present throughout the entire program.
Water Lantern Festival This festival is full of happiness, hope, and great memories that you can cherish forever. Friends, families, neighbors, and everyone in between come together to create thousands of decorated lanterns that are covered with words of inspiration and kindness, then release them on the water. You can also enjoy great local vendors, music, food trucks, and giveaways at the festival. Being able to experience the magic of thousands of lanterns with the ones closest to you is something you can truly never forget. So, buy your tickets now!
