as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.” In Mark 9:3, it is said that “his raiment became shining, exceeding white as snow ; so as no fuller on earth can white them.” In Luke 9 :29, we are told that “the fashion of his countenance was altered, and his raiment was white and glistering.” What was this change, so re markable that human language seems al most inadequate to describe it? Luke sup plies the answer in 9 :32: “ They saw his glory." It was a pre-vision o f His second coming glory (Matt. 16:27, 28 with 17: 1 , 2 ). I have heard men cavil at the truth of our Lord’s second coming, asking, “What kind of clothing will He wear when He comes? Will it be the flowing robes o f the Oriental, or the clothing o f the western business man?” The answer to all such foolish questions is that our Lord will be clothed in the blazing glory o f the eternal God who, we are told by the psalmist, is clothed “with light” (Psa. 104:2). The abseiice o f this external glory was one reason why the world “knew him not” at His first coming. The world could not see the inward glory which His disciples saw, And this, in my judgment, is the ex planation of Isaiah S3:2 : “When we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him” (Hebrew: appearance). The external glory, for which the Jew looked, had been temporarily laid aside. Golden Text Illustration In a certain mill, after the cloth is woven, it is serit to the inspecting room, where it is run over rollers in front of a big window. The sunlight penetrates the cloth, and reveals any missing threads, or covered-up places, or blotches o f oil. If any imperfections are found in the cloth, the piece is sent back to the weaver and he is fined. So we are weaving on the loom o f life ; some day the Lord will “bring to light the hidden things o f darkness,” and reveal the things omitted, the covered-up places, and the blotches of sin. What will the judgment be? It is for us to answer. — The Sunday School Times, from Cyclo pedia o f Religious Anecdotes, by Lawson. it unto one of the least o f these my brethren, ye have done it unto me.” Jesus wants us to do these kind things for others today. While we are on this earth, waiting for Him to return, we too can feed the hungry, care for the stranger, give clothing to people who need it, and visit the sick. When Jesus was on earth, He was al ways busy caring for people who needed His help. He was showing His followers what He expected of them after He had gone. Then when He returns, He will be ready to praise the people who have obeyed His wishes; but those who have disobeyed Him are to be cast out into outer darkness and separated from Him forever.

Objects: Two white paper hearts, two black paper hearts, a red cloth, and a compass concealed in one end of a card board tube such as is used in mailing cer tificates. Lesson: As we were studying in our Sunday-school lesson about the time when Christ would judge the secrets of the heart, perhaps there were some who were think ing about whether it would be hard for Christ to tell whether or not there was sin in the heart. I brought four hearts with me this morn ing. Two o f them are white and two are black. The white ones are wrapped in this red cloth, representing the blood of Christ which cleanses from all sin.’ I want four boys to come to the plat form, and we will think about how easy it will be for God to tell what kind of a heart a person has. “Man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart,” we read in His Word. You boys turn your backs to the audience and to me, and each take up one of the hearts from the table and place it under your coat over your own heart. No one but you four knows who has the white or black hearts. And from the “outward appear ance” no one can tell what the colors are. As you stand in a row, I will look in this tube and will be able to tell what color each has. (Place over the region o f the boy’s heart, the end of the tube in which the compass is concealed, and look in the other end at the compass. In the prepara tion of the hearts, several safety razor blades have been put between two pieces o f the black paper. Each black heart is prepared in this manner. When the com pass comes near to these black hearts, the needle will be attracted by the blades. Ex periment previously to be sure of the right amount o f blades.) John and Henry have the black hearts. Boys, open your coats and show the peo ple your hearts. Now, if I, an ordinary man, could find a way to look in this tube and know the color of each heart, do you not think it will be a simple matter for the Lord Jesus Christ, who is all powerful, to tell the condition of the heart when He sits in judgment? (This principle may be used to show also that Christ will know His own when He comes for the church.)
