Requirements for Installation of Specific Raceway Types: 1. Types RMC and IMC: a.

Threaded Conduit Joints, Exposed to Wet, Damp, Corrosive, or Outdoor Conditions: Apply listed compound that maintains electrical conductivity to threads of raceway and fittings before making up joints. Follow compound manufacturer's written instructions.

Types FMC, LFMC, and LFNC: a.

Comply with NEMA RV 3. Provide a maximum of 36 inch of flexible conduit for recessed luminaires, ]equipment subject to vibration, noise transmission, or movement; and for transformers and motors.

Stub-ups to Above Recessed Ceilings: 1.

Provide EMT, IMC, or RMC for raceways.

2. Provide a conduit bushing or insulated fitting to terminate stub-ups not terminated in hubs or in an enclosure. E. Raceway Fittings: Install fittings in accordance with NEMA FB 2.10 guidelines. 1. EMT: Provide compression fittings. Comply with NEMA FB 2.10. 2. Flexible Conduit: Provide only fittings listed for use with flexible conduit type. Comply with NEMA FB 2.20. F. Expansion-Joint Fittings: 1. Install in runs of aboveground PVC that are located where environmental temperature change may exceed 30 deg F and that have straight-run length that exceeds 25 ft. Install in runs of aboveground RMC and EMT conduit that are located where environmental temperature change may exceed 100 deg F and that have straight-run length that exceeds 100 ft. 2. Install type and quantity of fittings that accommodate temperature change listed for the following locations: a. Outdoor Locations Not Exposed to Direct Sunlight: 125 deg F temperature change. b. Outdoor Locations Exposed to Direct Sunlight: 155 deg F temperature change. c. Indoor Spaces Connected with Outdoors without Physical Separation: 125 deg F temperature change. 3. Install fitting(s) that provide expansion and contraction for at least 0.00041 inch per foot of length of straight run per deg F of temperature change for PVC conduits. Install fitting(s) that provide expansion and contraction for at least 0.000078 inch per foot of length of straight run per deg F of temperature change for metal conduits. 4. Install expansion fittings at locations where conduits cross building or structure expansion joints.
