COLOUR PALETTE
How to Give your outdoors a Moroccan makeover Update furniture in vibrant pink hues and then add in a fringed parasol and potted plants. Layer it all up with cushions and throws. Here’s how… ● Start by dusting down furniture to remove any loose dirt and cobwebs. Next, scrub clean with a brush (not a wire one) to remove any green, algae or paint flakes, if previously painted. “It’s a good idea to make any repairs at this stage; plug holes, tighten screws, etc,” says Cathy. ● Pick a paint colour. “The furniture I had was originally painted but it’s always advised to do a patch test first, especially on stained or oiled woodwork,” says Cathy. “I’ve used Sandtex Exterior Satin in Brandy Wine (from Crown’s Moodboards x House and Home magazine collection) on the seating and Flaxmill (Crown Moodboards x House and Home magazine collection) for the table.” ● Apply at least two coats of paint, using a roller if possible so that you can avoid seeing brush strokes. “I choose a satin finish as it’s easier to clean, more resistant to scuffs and more hardwearing. It also gives the furniture a nice smooth lift” says Cathy. ● Accessorising is key to this look. “Add rugs underfoot and cosy up seating with cushions and throws in a mix of comforting textures and create atmosphere with layered lighting,” says Cathy.
