ROPING DIVISION
The Roping Division features the best female ropers in the WPRA competing in team roping (header and heeler), tie-down roping and breakaway roping. World titles are awarded in each division as well as in the all-around category in which a competitor competes in more than one event at WPRA sanctioned events winning more money than the rest of the field. In 2020, the breakaway roping division was divided into a ProRodeo and co-approval division much like barrel racing in which the world champion was determined by money won at PRCA events only following the conclusion of the National Finals Breakaway
Roping (NFBR) and a national champion was crowned based on co- approved standings following the WPRA World Finals. Please note prior to 2020 the WPRA World Champion Breakaway Roper was determined using money won at any event the WPRA sanctioned. The first WPRA World Champion Breakaway Roper was Becky Berggren in 1974. This section features the 2022 World Champions as well as listings of past champions not only in the roping events but in the roughstock events of bareback riding and bull riding, when that was offered through the WPRA.
