Alex Echo
It has been said that the true measure of a person comes not when times are good and life is easy, but in how they meet and overcome challenges. In 2019, our artist Alex Echo was diagnosed with Parkinson’s. His courage and graciousness in the ensuing months has left us collectively humbled, and in awe of his resilience. Alex has embarked upon a personal journey that will see him use his creative channels to support the fantastic work being done by Parkinson’s UK. He told us: “I've been given a blessing. A tool from which I can help teach my daughter about resilience, looking adversity in the eye and ploughing on, about never giving up, and about service to others.” The charity has three core aims: to fund research into the treatment of Parkinson’s, to support those living with the condition and their families, and to raise awareness and debunk the myths
surrounding it. It is with great pride that Castle Fine Art supports Alex in his endeavours, and in his fundraising for this exceptionally worthy cause. We intended to commence our efforts in April, as it is the most significant calendar month for the charity; World Parkinson’s Day falls on 11th April 2020 and Parkinson’s Awareness Week 10th – 16th April 2020. Unfortunately, our best laid plans for an event at our gallery on South Molton Street in London – in partnership with Parkinson’s UK – were thwarted by UK entering lockdown. However, we will do what we can to make up for this when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, if you or a friend or family member have been affected by Parkinson’s and you would like to support our fundraising, please visit www. castlefineart.com/ blog/putting-parkinsons-uk-inthe-frame-alex- echo
