receiving treatment, as well as improve wellbeing of patients and staff. The arts have also been shown to reduce recovery rates and reduce the need for pain medication. Working collaboratively with UCLH Arts and Heritage, Alex’s aim is to create an art installation that will provide a distraction, bring colour and light into the patients’ environment and create a wow factor for the brand new building in which it will be showcased.
Guy Noble, Arts Curator for UCLH Arts & Heritage, commented:
“UCLH Arts is delighted to partner with Alex Echo, whose work fulfils our vision for the building in a visually interesting and inspiring way. Alex’s work draws on nature to create bespoke art works for patient rooms, staff rooms and corridor spaces. These will create points of contemplation throughout the hospital offering patients reassurance and respite from the stresses of treatment.”
