As an added benefit for our members, BOMA Metro Detroit began a new partnership with the Michigan Chamber of Commerce in late 2025. You should be receiving the weekly Michigan Chamber News and the weekly MIRS Michigan News and Capital Report. Both of these publications are essential for businesses. If you are not receiving these in your email box, contact us and we will add you to the distribution list. The Chamber legislative partnership is a piece of BOMA's strategy to do more for you. As we begin 2026 we are proud to share that BOMA members are participating in the Chamber's legislative committees keeping a watchful eye on issues that impact Michigan’s commercial real estate business community. Two issues of great importance to BOMA are sweeping elevator regulations and the impact of the Michigan Supreme Court's 2023 decision that lifted protections under the "Open and Obvious" doctrine. BOMA Metro Detroit is part of a statewide coalition of business organizations urging changes to premises liability, (link to letter) and we are actively involved in suppressing the negative impact of over regulation. We are, and we will continue to be vigilant in advocating for our members.
