PRODUCT FOCUS

Albis Optoelectronics presents extended 56 Gbaud PAM-4 photodiode solutions At ECOC, Albis will present its new PD40X1 photodiode chip with integrated backside lens targeting 56 Gbaud PAM-4 and 100G Single Lambda applications. The small sized chip offers excellent responsivity of 0.8 A/W at 1310nm. The integrated backside lens focuses the incoming light beam on the top side active area. This increases the effective detecting diameter resulting in easy optical coupling. The chip can also be supplied as a flip-chip mounted device on customised 2D or 3D (wrap-around) carriers. For example, PS40X4 consists of an array of four, flip-chip soldered 56 Gbaud lensed photodiodes that can be used for 400GBASE-DR4 and 400G-FR4 applications. All photodiode products are completely manufactured in-house in Albis’ dedicated clean-room facilities. Product highlights include: PIN photodiodes for 10G, 25G and 40G digital and analogue receivers. Low bias, top illuminated APDs for 2.5G and 10G OLT/ ONUs. 25G APDs for 28 Gbaud PAM-4 and 100GBASE-ER4 applications. Side-illuminated monitor diodes and monitor diode arrays. Photodiodes with integrated lenses and optical filters. And last but not least hermetically packaged, short and long wavelength microwave photodetectors up to 30 GHz.

Coherent Solutions adds OSA and power meters to PXI range

Coherent Solutions has expanded its range of PXIe optical test modules with optical spectrum analysers and power meters. The new modules can be used with their existing PXIe lasers, optical switches, variable optical attenuators and optical-to-electrical convertors to provide simplified test solutions on a single test platform. The OSAPXIe optical spectrum analyser is a compact two-slot PXIe module and is available in various wavelength ranges. The PowerPXIe power meter is a single-slot PXIe module. It is a large area detector power meter with low Senko Advanced Components has introduced a next generation connector specifically designed for Data Centre (DC) 400G optimisation. To accommodate the “lightspeed” upgrades currently taking place in hyperscale DCs, the reduced size CS Connector is not only capable of delivering low insertion and high return loss comparable to existing LC connectors, but with a significantly reduced footprint. These attributes allow the CS connector to supports the use of the more advanced modulation schemes such as PAM4 which is associated with the 100G and 400G speeds. Meantime, working with the newly

insertion loss, broad wavelength ranges and is available in terminating or analogue models. The advanced triggering and synchronisation capabilities of PXI allow for simpler integration of optical and electrical modules for robust and repeatable results. Added advantages of a small footprint, low power consumption, and intuitive software controls combine to help customers reduce complexity, improve efficiency and lower costs. Coherent Solutions will be showing live demonstrations of the new PXIe modules at ECOC, and will also unveil the new IQLaser Series of O and C band swept laser sources. agreed QSFP-DD and OSFP pluggable form factors, the new CS Connector accentuates ease of fibre breakout. Optical connectors with low insertion and return loss will be essential components in DCs as signalling speeds increase and the use of higher level modulation such as PAM4 becomes more widespread. The CS Connector has 2 LC ferrules contained in one housing, with the ferrules pitched 3.8mm apart. This represents about a 40% reduction in size compared to regular LC duplex connectors. It also allows two CS Connectors to fit in the QSFP-DD/ OSFP module footprint, something that LC connectors cannot accomplish.
