and other outlying districts. Largest delegation came by car from Bellingham some ninety miles to the north, 93 strong. A score even came from a foreign country, from Victoria and Vancouver, B.C. The key attraction was found on the huge painted mural behind the platform. Above the globe, which was the center of the mural, the sky was filled with stars and planets and rockets. But across it all was the vital message which was the theme of this year’s banquet: Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled. Yes, the banquet is sponsored for just one reason: to evangelize unsaved teenagers and to win them to Christ, and to provide a happy social event into which teenage Christians may wholeheartedly enter. The entire program was planned to this end from the dramatic fanfare of the brass ensemble accompany ing King’s High Choir to the dynamic gospel mes sage delivered by the friend of youth, Word of Life’s own Jack Wyrtzen. Besides gospel music by the ever-popular White Sister’s Trio and several KGDN talent-time winners, a surprise number was sung by Bill Carle, noted baritone, who missed a plane and suddenly found himself at the great Valentine Ban quet. The Valentine Banquet is certainly a high light for the 64 King’s Teens high school clubs conducted in homes in the Pacific Northwest and their guests. Already, Merv Rosell has been engaged for the 1961 banquet when amid the atmosphere of hearts and flowers will emerge, by God’s grace, another harvest of souls.
I t ’ s t r a d i t i o n a l in Seattle — this King’s Teens Valentine Banquet! Held this past February 12th for the third time in the great city-block-sized Armory, the 16th annual semi-formal banquet drew a crowd of 3,792, mostly teenagers. And that’s a lot of people at a banquet, even by the professional caterer’s standards! From King’s Garden of which King’s Teens is but one ministry, were sent eight buses to meet ferries bringing delegations from the Olympic Penninsula Teen banquet features a message by Dr. Jack Wyrtzen with special music by the talented White Sisters.
