"Bible KitKraft." Picture mosaics for these ages will do much to reach the young people in a group in which interest is ordinarily hard to maintain. Easy-to-punch-out pictures are also found in colored workbooks. GOSPEL PUBLISHING HOUSE, 434 West Pacific Street, Springfield 1, Missouri. "Wagons, Ho! On the Christian Trail," is the theme which will doubtless quickly appeal to boys ond girls. All the way from the "Wagon Master's Trail Guide," to the clever "Wagons, Ho!" headpiece, the publisher has developed the theme with every conceivable aid for the direc tor and teacher. A book of VBS "Trail Songs," newspaper mats for advertising and unusually large cardboard cutouts further enhance the entire course. A 150 poge pocket-sized book, "The Ideal Vacation Bible School," is available to directors which provides a wealth of material all the way from the reason for Vocation Bible School to the actual training of workers and financing of the school. MENNONITE PUBLISHING HOUSE (Herald Press), 610 Walnut Avenue, Scottdale, Pennsylvania. While the theme "Walking with Jesus" is care fully utilized by the publisher, yet the same permanent closely graded materials are used year after year to reach the pupils as they advance in grade. The publisher has a good thought in using this method to give a sense of unity to all in the church, community and those attending the actual school. Packets of activity materials are included with each course. Foreign language editions in Spanish, French and German are also available. A strong evan gelistic emphasis is placed in the entire series for each of the grades. OAK HILLS FELLOWSHIP, Bemidji, Minnesota. A series for primaries, "Bible Miracles," and a series for juniors, "Bible Towns," are offered again in 1960. Both a teacher's manuol and pupil's work book are available. SCRIPTURE PRESS, 1825 College Avenue, Wheaton, Illinois From one of the leoding firms publishing Sun day School ond Vacation Bible School materials comes a beautifully keyed course for every age with the timely theme, "Signalling for Christ." Space conscious pupils will be especially inter ested in the posters, buttons, invitations and other incentives for attending VBS. Handcraft materials are also designed to carry out the over-oil theme, with full color books which invite pupil interest and work. Two special fea tures of real interest for all considering the ma terials will be the excellent VBS Guidebook, compiled by Scripture Press editors, and setting forth a complete calendar for planning with a handy blueprint for each department. The other important feature is a Young People-Adult VBS course by Dr. Bob Cook, "Steps to Maturity." STANDARD PUBLISHING COMPANY, 8100 Hamilton Avenue, Cincinati 31, Ohio. Probably no publisher produces a more com plete array of VBS materials thon Standard, which hos selected for its theme this year, "The Teachings of Jesus." Each pupil has his own special song book, headband, and certificate of completion with workbooks both in color and to be colored. Graded for five age levels, nursery through teenage, a number of publicity aids are offered to guide the director and teachers in building a consistent program for VBS. Attrac tive full color closing announcement folders are also a part of the kit. WESTMINSTER PRESS, Philadephia 7, Penn. Four separate teacher's guides and pupil's books are published by this firm which include kinder garten to junior high age. Little tots will espe cially appreciate the "Bible Picture Book" which is done in full color with poems and stories for small children. Quizes, crossword puzzles and songs will be appealing to the other boys and girls.

R ev iew ing VACAT I ON BI BLE SCHOOL MATERIALS E ditor ’ s N ote : The follow ing is a survey o f Vacation Bible School publications which are available for you r church. A careful check has been made of various firms to determ ine materials in which you will be interested. Pastors, Christian Education leaders, and Vacation Bible School directors will have on e main problem this year — to select which of the vastly appealing materials to use. One thing is certain, each publisher is to be highly commended not only for developing a useful, attractive and appeal ing course and theme, but also the center ing of each upon the Word of God and the need of personal salvation through the Lord Jesus Christ. D o not hesitate to write the publisher or to contact the Biola Book Room, 560 South H ope Street, Los Angeles 17, California, for further information and assistance. AMERICAN SUNDAY SCHOOL UNION, 1816 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. This year the ASSU has three series on the theme of "Our Redeemer." Sample packets for the first two are now available with third soon to be ready along with a descriptive folder. Series one is, "Our Redeemer— Our Need of a Redeemer," Series two is, "Our Redeemer— Strength and Power," and Series three is, "Our Redeemer— Faith and Courage." Each series em ploys different characters and stories from both the Old and New Testaments. Pupil's work books, teacher's guides and director's manuals are integrated for each series. CONCORDIA PUBLISHING HOUSE, 3558 South Jdfferson Avenue, St. Louis 18, Missouri Probably the most elaborate sample kit of any firm is produced by Concordia. A heavy em phasis has been placed on attractive and appeal ing art project boxes for each pupil in the five departments: nursery, kindergarten, pri mary, junior, and junior high. Each is different and contains such intriguing "creative projects with a purpose" as: a stained glass window, perpetual desk colendor, prayer plaque, wrist- watch, briefcase, and hanging picture, to name but a very few. "God's Children Pray" is the theme which is corefully carried out in the large pupil's ond teacher's books. The publisher, as each year, produces some of the very finest an nouncements, incentives and other promotional materials, available in the field. COVENANT PRESS, 5101 North Francisco Avenue, Chicago 25, Illinois. Theme for the new series by this publisher is, "Growing Toward God." Four new teacher's manuals from kindergorten to junior high are provided. Special attractive announcements and incentives may be ordered for the VBS pro gram. One important phase of the training is a "missions day" with a pageant available for portrayol in the local church. GOSPEL LIGHT PUBLICATIONS, 725 East Colo rado, Glendale 5, Calif, or Mound, Minn. Appealing to the odventuring heort of every child, "Pioneering with Christ," is the excellent ly carried out theme of this leading Western publisher. Of special interest will be the long- playing record, which accompanies the sample kit, prepared by Mrs. Ethel Barrett and setting forth, "1960 VBS Tips."
