Health & Wellness Newsletter by Fyzical Therapy & balance Centers

HEALTH &WELLNESS NEWSLETTER December, 2019 OUR TEAM IS GROWING! We are excited to introduce our two newest physical therapists, Cassandra Schnelle and Austin Woods. Cass has been with us for the past few months as a temporary, traveling PT. We are now happy to announce she will be staying with us as a permanent addition to the Fyzical team. We know all of her patients will be excited to hear the news! Cass “absolutely loves helping others achieve their movement goals.” Her initial interest and current motivation to be a physical therapist relates to the overwhelming research that movement is medicine. Cass grew up in Illinois and Indiana and is excited to be living in the Northwest. She currently lives in Vancouver with her husband and 12 year old cat, Yoplait. Austin recently moved to Camas from the Seattle area where he was working in a sports therapy clinic. He has been a physical therapist for over ten years. Austin’s favorite thing about being a PT is “helping people realize how amazing and capable their body really is!” He grew up in Northwest Montana but has lived in Seattle for most of the last 12 years. Outside of work, Austin likes to spend time with his wife Jessica, his two children and their dog Kodak. He also enjoys hiking, photography and dad jokes!

If your deductible is met, your Physical Therapy may not cost you anything. Patientswithfamilyplansorthosewhohavehadmajorsurgeries or have a chronic illness are especially likely to have a $0 balance remaining on their out-of-pocket expenses. This means that the cost of physical therapy could be minimal or completely covered by the patient’s insurance plan. If you are close to or have met your insurance deductible for the year, then now is the time to come in for Physical Therapy! Are you feeling aches and pains? Need to work on your core? Let us help you get a head start for 2020.

HEALTHY RECIPE VEGAN PUMPKIN PIE

INGREDIENTS • 1¼ cups pecan halves, toasted • 1¼ cups oat flour • ¼ tsp salt • ¼ cup coconut oil • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup • 1 (15 oz) can reduced-sodium chickpeas

• 1/3cup white sugar • 1 (15 oz) can pumpkin puree • 2 tbsp coconut oil • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

• ½ tsp ground ginger • ¼ tsp ground cloves • ¼ tsp salt

DIRECTIONS Preheat oven to 350°F. Pulse pecans in a food processor. Add oat flour and ¼ teaspoon salt and pulse until combined. With the motor running, drizzle in ¼ cup coconut oil and maple syrup; blend until the mixture looks like crumbly dough. Transfer to a deep-dish pie pan and press evenly into the bottom and almost all the way up the sides. Bake the crust 12 to 14 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325°F. Drain chickpeas, measuring ½ cup of the bean liquid (aquafaba) into a mixing bowl. Beat with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form, 3 to 5 minutes. Add sugar and continue beating on high about 1 minute more. Whisk pumpkin, coconut oil, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and salt in a large bowl. Gently fold in the whipped aquafaba. Pour the mixture into the crust. Bake the pie 35 to 45 minutes. Let cool on a wire rack for 1 hour, then refrigerate overnight.
