HENRY BYRON MOORE English-born Henry Byron Moore (1839–1925) surveyor, public servant, land agent and broker, was the entrepreneurial Secretary of the Victoria Racing Club for an astonishing 44 years, from 1881. Byron Moore also set up a stock exchange, and pioneered electric light and the telephone in Melbourne. He proved an outstanding racing administrator, intent on making Flemington a magnificent national attraction with featured gardens, grounds and facilities. During his long tenure the VRC built six major grandstands and introduced many innovations. Byron Moore was inducted into the Australian Racing Hall of Fame in 2010.
