Emily Winfield Lead Mechanical Engineer

Emily Winfield is the lead mechanical engineer for Design Alaska, a multidisciplinary architecture and engineering firm based in Fairbanks, Alaska. She leads a team of 10 engineers and EITs in projects across the state. In addition to design and con- struction projects she has been involved in local professional organizations includ- ing ASPE and ASHRAE. Emily leads and designs projects including HVAC systems, plumbing systems, fire protection systems, and building automation systems. She has designed on a wide variety of projects including healthcare facilities, recreation- al facilities, projects in remote locations, and utility distribution among others. As a Certified Commissioning Authority and LEED-AP Emily is passionate about sustain- ability and tailoring building design to function efficiently in the Alaskan climate. She believes that sustainable solutions need to be robust and strives to find solutions to meet the needs of each project. Emily graduated from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada with a Bach- elor’s of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to studying engineering, she re- ceived a Bachelor’s of Arts from St. Mary’s University in Nova Scotia.
