Samantha Collins Staff Engineer Dewberry Henrico, VA scollins@dewberry.com
I went to the University of Virginia to get her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineer- ing, and is currently working on her masters in Civil Engineering. After graduation I worked at Barton Malow Construction as a project engineer with a focus on civil sub- contractors for two years. After two years, I decided the construction industry was not the field I wanted to be and now work at Dewberry Engineers as a site civil design engineer. I focus mostly on stormwater management projects in Virginia, and am currently certified in plan review in the state. I plan on getting my P.E. this year. When I started working at Dewberry, I decided that in order to further my career, I wanted to pursue my masters. Being back in school (part time), my passion for stu- dents and recruiting came back to the forefront. I’m passionate about building up younger engineers, specifically want to advocate for women. While retention at our jobs is incredibly important, it is also important to get women into the field in the first place. ElevateHER would be a good opportunity to potentially be more involved in that.
