“Every aspect of it is geared to encouraging the boys to learn new skills, be open to different ideas, come to understand their strengths, to appreciate their lives and their environment.” Darrell Thatcher
from Innervate, a talk from City Missioner Matthew Mark about the value of service and a practical opportunity to get involved in some service projects – captivated and inspired the boys, making them realise the many ways in which they can be the change for the benefit of themselves and their community. Darrell says it would not be the same if the boys did not live in while taking part in Immerse & Inspire. “It’s concentrated, focused time. The boys really enjoyed living as boarders, getting to know each other, taking part in boarding programme activities. They now feel a greater sense of ownership of the school having lived on site. They understand and appreciate
the boarding community more, and have made connections with boys from all Houses.” Immerse & Inspire lays the foundation for the boys to start thinking about the type of men they want to become and to give them the tools they need to manage their lives, both in the here and now and after they leave school. “There’s nothing random about the content of Immerse & Inspire,” says Darrell. “Every aspect of it is geared to encouraging the boys to learn new skills, be open to different ideas, come to understand their strengths, appreciate their lives and their environment, and help them develop a growth mindset."
