OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU AND OUR PLANET

modulyss is widely regarded as a brand that guarantees nothing less than top-quality carpet tiles . We back up that promise by giving our customers a 15-year warranty on all our products. We consider it our privilege and duty to help implement your vision on sustainability and to support you to create an environment in which: ■ well-being is key; ■ you’re stimulated to be innovative and creative ; ■ your social and environmental engagement is supported and stimulated by the products and tools we offer you. In order to be able to support you better, it was time for us to take the next step: circularity and CO 2 neutrality . Yes, you’ve read it right: at modulyss squares can be circular too. Here’s how: ■ Our ecoBack backing (see p. 9) has a high percentage of recycled content and can be recycled after use. ■ The ECONYL ® yarns (see p. 10) we use are regenerated and can be regenerated again after use.

Thanks to our focus on creating sustainable products made for the circular economy, a number of our products are now Cradle to Cradle Certified™ at the Gold or Silver level (see p. 12). And if you want to create a fully CO 2 neutral project (yes please!), the CO 2 RE initiative (see p. 16) can give you a head start. So now it’s up to you. We want to give you, our customer, every option to take your responsibility and limit the environmental footprint of your project(s). With our Limit Your Footprint Programme , you can now choose for a top-quality, circular and CO 2 neutral flooring solution. And the best news is: you don’t have to worry about compromising on quality or design possibilities at all.

Let’s be the change together.

At modulyss, we give you every option to limit your footprint, while not having to compromise on quality or design possibilities at all.

ecoBack A backing designed for disassembly and recycling

Pile material + primary backing + precoat

With ecoBack, we have launched a backing solution that is specifically designed to be recycled . So if you want to help close the loop and contribute to the circular economy while also improving installer ergonomics , ecoBack is the right backing for you. Here’s why: ■ ecoBack is Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Gold. ■ It consists of a polyolefin-based layer with min. 75% recycled content . ■ It's 100% PVC and bitumen free . ■ ecoBack makes for an easier and healthier installation. Thanks to its unique composition, flexibility and lower weight, it’s easier and less strenuous for installers to cut and handle tiles with an ecoBack backing. ■ ecoBack is 25% lighter than other backings, but offers the same acoustical values and an even better dimensional stability. ■ The lower weight of the backing results in (up to 16%) less CO 2 and particulate matter emissions and fuel consumption during the transport of the carpet tiles. ■ After use, we can recycle your backing into a first grade new backing solution.

ECONYL ®

The ECONYL ® Regeneration System: a continuous loop

Thanks to this groundbreaking process, end-of-life yarn, carpets and fishing nets recovered by Healthy Seas ® can be regenerated into first grade nylon. The regenerated nylon yarn is called ECONYL ® and has the same qualities as virgin nylon from fossil raw material. The yarn is used for the production of our sustainable carpet tiles.

The ECONYL ® Regeneration System is the world’s most efficient industrial system for the production of nylon 6 from 100% regenerated waste materials . Conceptualised and designed entirely by the Aquafil Group, this innovative system reduces the amount of global waste by collecting it from building sites and oceans and feeding it back into production cycles.

Fishing nets can be made of many different materials but nylon 6 is the only material used in fishing net production that can be recycled and regenerated. Healthy Seas® encourages fish farmers to use only nylon 6 fishing nets, so that they can be regenerated after their useful life. As modulyss also uses nylon 6 (PA6) to manufacture its carpet tiles, it was a natural decision to join Healthy Seas ® as an associate partner member.

Cradle to Cradle Certified™ What does Cradle to Cradle Certified™ mean?

Material Health : Ensuring that products are made using raw materials that are as safe as possible for humans and the environment. Material Reutilisation : Eliminating the concept of waste by helping to ensure that products remain in perpetual cycles of use and reuse from one product use cycle to the next. Renewable Energy & Carbon Management : Ensuring that products are manufactured using renewable energy to reduce or eliminate the impact of climate changing greenhouse gases due to the manufacturing of our products. Water Stewardship : Ensuring that water is recognised as a valuable resource, watersheds are protected and clean water is available to people and all other organisms. Social Fairness : Designing business operations that honor all people and natural systems affected by the manufacturing of our products. Each attribute is given a score: Basic, Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum (from low to high).

Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is a globally recognised standard for safer, more sustainable products made for the circular economy. According to its principles, end-of-life products should serve as ingredients in new manufacturing processes (technical cycle) or as nutrients in the biological cycle, eliminating waste. In order to become Cradle to Cradle Certified™ our products were assessed for environmental and social performance across five categories.

12

Circular product design

At modulyss we strive to maximise our contribution to the circular economy by keeping our materials in use as long as possible and by eliminating the concept of waste.

But what if a product needs replacement? Then our experts will analyse your situation and search for the most effective way to continue to limit (y)our footprint (e.g. take back, reuse, recycle, …).

CO 2 RE

Carbon offsetting

Supported projects

To offset (y)our CO 2 emissions, we support cookstove projects in Africa. Nearly 3 billion people cook food and heat their homes using traditional cookstoves or open fires. Four million deaths are estimated to happen every year due to smoke exposure from these methods. We support projects that introduce more insulated and efficient cookstoves to families in Africa.

For now, it’s impossible for us to reach zero emissions through production and operational improvements alone. When producing our carpet tiles, there is still an unavoidable footprint left behind. Carbon offsetting is a proven model that means we can achieve low CO 2 status for our carpet tiles.

50-60%

How it works

35% less fuel used less greenhouse gas emissions

■ CO 2 RE is available through the Limit Your Footprint Programme, standard for all Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products and available on request on all other modulyss carpet tile collections. ■ The remaining greenhouse gases for your project are calculated. ■ This value is turned into a CO 2 equivalent for which credits are purchased. ■ With those credits, modulyss supports a certified climate project to the full CO 2 equivalent. ■ The production of the carpet tiles for your project is now CO 2 neutral . ■ Your commitment to make a change will be certified by CO 2 Logic and validated by third-party certification specialist Vinçotte.

Helping you meet green building standards 05

20

Sustainable or 'green' building is becoming increasingly important. We all need to find ways to use our resources more efficiently, while creating more healthy, energy- efficient and sustainable spaces and buildings. Green building standards, codes and certification systems guide you in how to design and build 'green'. And whereas these standards were once mainly optional, they are increasingly becoming a strong requirement. Lucky for you, modulyss is here to help. LABELS & CERTIFICATIONS
