According to a cable received at the Los Angeles office of the China In land Mission, Eugene recently met his death in a motor accident in Kwei chow Province, China. The Chinese Government sent out a call for eight men to do liaison work to, which Dr. Reuben Torrey and Eu gene had responded. It is a matter of record that these two fulfilled their commission most acceptably, keeping also in their hearts, daily, the admo nition: “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). So zealously did these two men preach and live Christ, that forty Chinese officers, among whom they worked, were publicly baptized. Strange as it may seem, some time ago Dr. Torrey, too, was injured in an automobile accident, suffering the loss of his right aim. These are severe testings which cause us to thank God that Romans 8:28 is in the Book. Martha Jean Spees. small daughter of William and Mrs. Spees (Ella Deans) aged six years and eight months, at Natal, Brazil. Mr. and Mrs. Spees, (both former Biola students) were en route home from their mis sion station in the Belgian Congo. These young people mourn not as those who have no hope. They are living at 2620 San Jose Ave., Alameda, Calif. The Biola faculty and friends ex tend sincere sympathy to these fami lies in this time of their sorrow.
