Deep in Paul Corfield’s imagination is a world of green hills, sunset skies and trees whose leaves never fall. Celebrating his love of the countryside, his charming artworks intertwine everyday family experiences with a technique influenced by airbrushing, animation and 3D modelling software.
After drawing a design onto the canvas, Paul seals the drawing with a layer of transparent red oxide or burnt sienna oil paint to form the underpainting. This method goes back hundreds of years, as the strong reddish-brown tint is a perfect complement to the greens in the next layer of paint.
