A MESSAGE FROM HEAD OF YEAR 12

Year 12 students returned to lessons this week after their mocks and enrichment week. I am delighted to see students back in the classroom and engaged in their learning. As students receive their mock results over the coming weeks I would like to reinforce the message that these mocks are practice exams and a way to see what areas are going well and what each student can work on. Please encourage your child to speak to their subject teachers or me if they have any questions or concerns. In media studies this week, our students had the privilege of listening to a captivating talk by Tom Grievson from Harroway Films. Tom shared his expertise in film marketing, directly tying into the coursework component of the A Level course. He even generously extended work experience opportunities to our students, providing them with a firsthand glimpse into the industry. With Tom’s exciting trip to the Cannes Film Festival this weekend, our students couldn’t help but feel inspired by his journey. Furthermore, our Year 12 students have been equipped with valuable information on crafting their personal statements. They’ve been given a deadline for the first draft, set for the beginning of June. This step marks an important milestone in their academic journey, and we’re here to guide and support them as they navigate this process.

BOOK OF THE MONTH

Prima Facie by Suzie Miller

Based on the award-winning one woman show of the same name, this novelisation is a first person account of a woman’s fight for justice in an unfair system. A working class woman, the protagonist has fought hard to get to the position she is at: a successful criminal barrister. However, when she becomes a victim of a crime, her faith in the system that she has dedicated her life to is called into question. The audiobook, narrated by Jodie Comer, is highly recommended.
